Well hopped aroma of citrus and carmels throughout. Lightly oily well coated and lightly creamy palate. Flavor is quite nice, enough carmel malt to be a BW. balanced w/ some citrus hop notes and grass, finishes w/ a hot alcholic swallow. Nice. Dickinsonbeer (3494), Hoboken, New Jersey, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Sep 6, 2006 KP’s fest. 750 ml bottle. Pours a deep dark amber-cloudy with a nice fluffy beige head- dissipates slightly. Aroma is thick caramel malts, nice hop profile- slight citrus and floral, with a bit of alchol as it warms. Smooth sweet caramel and nutty malts, light chocolate flavor with hints of fruit, and a bit more alcohol. Really well made smooth full BW. This bottle makes me want to drive down to FF to pick up some of this stuff for myself if they still have it. Pigfoot (2226), Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jul 28, 2006 Appearance, fully opaque, magenta hued, big, blooming, dotted tapioca head.
Aroma: big’n’fruity, rich, brandy-like, dark fruits aplenty, cherries and grapes, mellow, though. I like it!
Brisk and beautiful taste, lovely fruited flavor, well-rounded feel, a bit oaky, with a great, mature character. This isn’t ripped, raw and in-yer-face, no, it’s solid, sure, not too hot or boozy, very cool and lovely.
Big alcohol, but hardly felt...just enjoyed.
Full body, long finish, relaxing and almost indulgent.
A quality barleywine, and I was mighty glad to drink it!

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jun 28, 2006 Bottle. Slightly hazy, rust color body with a receding, uniform white head. Aroma of maple, brown sugar, plums, alcohol, and woody hops. Flavor has some brown sugar sweetness early followed by a substantial flurry of chunky hops and bitterness. A straight-forward, hoppy, American-style barley wine. Solid and stylistic. fiulijn (7230), Como; Lausanne (CH); Malmö (SWE), Italy
| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Apr 12, 2006 Beautiful amber color. Excellent malt aroma, with fruity and resinous hops. Malty and hoppy taste, resinous and fruity. May I say balanced for my taste? Anyway, it’s well brewed. Excellent. wnhay (722), Princeton, New Jersey, USA

Malty aroma with hints of currant, caramel, orange, citrus and raisin. Very smooth taste. apoptosis (1316), Long Island, New York, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Mar 11, 2006 Murky body of a burnt-orange-brownish color. The aroma is sweet, with typical fruits, and the flavor is the same. Alcohol is obvious, and the hops are pretty strong. The palate is bitter and slightly too sweet and yet too biting. notalush (2669), Denver, Colorado, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Mar 11, 2006 2003 vintage, on tap at Mug’s Ale House - cloudy, turbid, strawberry color - kind of damp, thin aroma of fig and hops - highly acidic for the style, but the alcohol is well-hidden - some caramel malt and light fruits (strawberry) - very thin, especially in the finish - bad keg?
