Draft at OBF’07: Pours a red amber color with off white head. Serious strong aroma of bourbony and oaky spice and some malt. Flavor is pretty much all bourbon and oak. There is a strong malt presence underneath but it is overwhelmed and i am not getting any of the fruity esters and phenols that should accompany this style. Lots of bourbony spice and if you like that then you will like this.

Appearance: Pours a rich, near-still mahogany body with a scant few bubbles that could scarcely be called a head. Smell: Well, its bourbony, I’ll give it that. That fact is beyond question! Aromawise, it reminds me of a bourbon-soaked cake my mother prepares during Christmastime, with notes of vanilla, caramel, and, of course, bourbon. Taste: Ah, bourbon, a drink I’ve had good experiences with. The flavor is largely of bourbon, but the taste also has it’s fair share of dark, sugar-coated fruits, caramel, and nuts. Finishes sweet and boozey, with a nice oaken zip to it. Mouthfeel: Medium-thin body. Plenty of alcohol warmth. Drinkability: A wonderfully done bourbon barrel beer that, mercifully, isn’t too sweet, heavy-bodied, or overwhelmingly bourbony.

Sweet malt, raisin plums and currents. Low hop aroma. Bourbon and vanilla aromas. Reddish brown color. Thin tight head with low head retention and good lacing. Sweet malt and fruit and then bourbon and vanilla. Low lemony hoppy flavor and bitterness. Medium body and slick mouthfeel. Sweet bourbon finish drys out. Excellent!

Handbottle courtesy of MrBendo: Pours a hazy copper amber with a thin-lacing ring of light tan head. Aroma of dry milk chocolate and coconut with some light bourbon oak and vanilla along with a lot of toasty nutty character. Body starts with some sweet dark caramel malt along with lots of vanilla oak and some mild diacetyl. Has some smooth milk chocolate flavors and lingering bourbon warmth toward the finish. A really unique and enjoyable brew.

Pours an amber color with a small white head. Aroma is woody, vanilla, some malts, bourbon, a hint of alcohol and fruit. Flavor is woody up front with the malts, bourbon, then a bitter alcohol finish, and a hint of light fruit.

From growler, thanks to john_adam2002. Pours a slightly cloudy brown. Aroma is bourbon, fruit, and sugar. Flavor is bourbon, fruit, vanilla, brown sugar and spice. This is much better than the regular FF Dubbel.

On tap at Capones. Pours brown with tan head. Aroma of bourbon and fruit. Taste was extremely smoothe with bourbon and fruit. Kind of a spicy finish. Very drinkable.
