Barrel Draught from the jug at the GABF, Colorado Convention Center 29/09/2005 Dark coloured and strong in alcohol. Slightly sweet on the palate. Some dryness and bitterness in a coffee flavour finish.

Poured black, with a reddish hue and some off white head with nice lacing. Roasted malt and barley aroma. Sweet chocolate and a funky coffee taste with a creamy mouthfeel, this was nice to drink at 8am!

GABF. Listed as "Espresso Porter." Pours a jet black with a cream head. Aroma is cookie and chocolate. Flavor falls flat of the aroma, with flat chocolate and coffee not doing much to tickle the tongue. Palate is smooth. Not bad, but could be better.

09.30.05 GABF They called it Expresso Porter. Aggressive coffee and earth nose. Very mild coffee flavor, more lingering peat smoke and a chemical sort of chocolate presence. Had a couple extra samples because I really wanted to like it. Gets a touch sour toward end where I’d have preferred some bitterness from the roast. Very creamy palate.

Sweet cocoa and coffee aroma. Cloudy brown with a large head. More cocoa and coffee, but blended with a mild roastiness throughout and creamy feel to the whole affair. Enjoyed this one.

GABF ’05. Fruity roast aroma. Dark brown body, light tan head. Chocolate-sweet flavor with coffe earthiness; roasty tartness at the end. Decent stuff.

Cask. Dark brown and murky with a nice brown head. Aroma of roasty malt and apples. Not my favorite, but it may be because of the cask having active yeast, the more I think about it. Flavor is smooth and sweet. Roasty like coffee, sweet like chocolate milk, I guess is the best way to describe it. Definitely an interesting brew, especially on cask.
