Rciesla (897), Brick City, New Jersey, USA Oct 10, 2008 Bottle. Pours an amber body with a light head. Very malty with caramel sweetness and a bitter citrus finish. Lightly hopped with little etoh to finish. so so. Bungalo22 (305), Bridgeport, Connecticut, USA Sep 17, 2008 Pours a nice amber color with a decent head. This is a much different ESB and stretches the style a bit in my opinion. It is a bit sweeter and more malty and carmel then normal. It is good but a bit under carbonated. A nice surprise for an ESB but I am not convinced it is one. joeymacaroni (142), West Chester, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 8, 2008 Apparently this beer is interchangeable with the ESB Amber Ale. Pours clear golden orange with a thin off-white head. light lacing. Aromas of apricot, caramel malt, light fruit, carrot. Flavor is heavy caramel malt, toffee, light citrus hops, candied fruit. finish is malty caramel. bubbly. smjohnst (161), , Pennsylvania, USA Aug 1, 2008 I am not typically a fan of ESB’s but this is a good one. It isn’t just bitter to be bitter it actually has other flavors in it. EithCubes (1825), Indiana, USA Jul 30, 2008 Bottle. Bready nose with some great Fuggly funk, a bit of hot rubber, caramel, and stylish yeast. Very English! Toffee and light milk chocolate in with some berry. Orange-amber body, clear with a lot of carbonation and a soapy white head. Taste of caramel and toffee with a very dry, chalky yeasty finish. Fruitiness form the Flying Fish house character. No Fuggles, but getting a candyish note closer to apple cider than candi sugar. Some light hay and dry white grape. Nice and woody. Mid-bodied. Not bad!
