gws57 (990), Saint Charles, Illinois, USA Mar 17, 2008 Had this one bottled, thanks Jerry and Gina! Clear, medium orange pour with a thin, foamy white head. Grassy, nutty nose with plenty of malt. Nice balanced maltiness, earthy, chocolaty and fruity. Soft finish. Nice.
smjohnst (135), , Pennsylvania, USA Aug 1, 2008 I am not typically a fan of ESB’s but this is a good one. It isn’t just bitter to be bitter it actually has other flavors in it. EithCubes (1805), Indiana, USA Jul 30, 2008 Bottle. Bready nose with some great Fuggly funk, a bit of hot rubber, caramel, and stylish yeast. Very English! Toffee and light milk chocolate in with some berry. Orange-amber body, clear with a lot of carbonation and a soapy white head. Taste of caramel and toffee with a very dry, chalky yeasty finish. Fruitiness form the Flying Fish house character. No Fuggles, but getting a candyish note closer to apple cider than candi sugar. Some light hay and dry white grape. Nice and woody. Mid-bodied. Not bad! HoppityHop (78), USA Jul 25, 2008 Flying Fish markets this as an ESB/Amber Ale and as an ESB it doesn’t really make the mark, but as an Amber, it’s quite enjoyable. Tastes and smells malty (a Flying Fish trademark, it seems) and has almost no hop presence. Carbonation is slightly high, but the head and lacing were nearly non-existant, if you can believe that? I think this is a decent brew, but would much rather have their Hopfish, which tastes more like an ESB than an IPA. SpringsLicker (1817), Tennessee, USA Jul 19, 2008 Thanks to decaturstevo for sharing this one.
Clear light amber body under a firm, creamy head of off-white.
Malty aroma.
Flavor is firm malt with well balanced supportive hops.
Good for style.
decaturstevo (1194), decatur, Tennessee, USA Jul 8, 2008 Orange gold pour with white head and lace. Malt and light brown sugar on the nose. Semi sweet with I think apples. Hints of a clovish flavor. A tad thin and foamy. Nice clean and refreshing
