Commercial Description:
We’ve now hit our second stop on our multi-year trip to explore through beer all that is New Jersey. Exit 11. Its confluence of highways ensures that you can get there from here. So we chose a beer that celebrates a confluence of styles. We looked to Germany and its wheat beers, but then we used a classic English ale yeast. A trio of Pacific Northwest hops chime in to creates refreshing American wheat with a bit of a hop bite. Exit 11 is brewed with 50 % Belgian pale malt and 50 % white wheat. It’s hopped with Columbus, Palisade, and Amarillo hops. We then dry hop it with more than a pound per barrel of Amarillo hops for a bouquet reminiscent of tangerines and apricots. A perfect beer to enjoy when you get where you’re going.

Rating #36. 750ml bottle from Allison (Joe’s wife) at Hophead22’s tasting. Poured a cloudy yellow color with a nice white head. Nice beer to cleanse the pallet in between barley wines. Some hop bitterness and a wheaty taste. Refreshing.

THOUGHTS: Decent beer, but after Exit 4 I was expecting more. Very nice for the style, though. Way better once the yeast is added. Even the hops shine a little better once the yeast is added. Was rather refreshing during the heat when I had this back in August. TECHNICAL: Bottle. Poured a slightly cloudy, medium to dark yellow that became murky once the yeast was added. It had a large, ever so slightly off-white head that mostly diminished. The aroma was light to moderate light bread; slight cookie, moderate citric (tangerine and clementine) hops; moderate to heavy earthy and funky yeast; apricots, lots of wheat. Nice balance in the aroma. The initial flavor was acidic, slightly sour and slightly sweet; while the finish was lightly sweet, acidic, bitter and a little sour with an average to long duration. There was tangerine or clementine, wheat, yeast, a little lemon, bread, a good bit of funk, lots of citric, earthy hops, yeast, slight metallic hops and slight apricot. The light to medium body was rather dry with highly fizzy carbonation and a light to moderately astringent and dry finish. It made me want to keep sipping.

Lots of lemon, some wheat, a little dusty yeast, and earthy hop aromas. Pours hazy light yellow with a decent fizzy head. Lots of lemon up front, soft wheat flavors, lemon and earthy bitterness in the finish. Emminently drinkable. Vibrant carbonatin. Tasty.

draft at coppermine...nice amber pour, plenty of carbonation, good amount of fluffy head, nice lacing...nice amount of hops and citrus in the nose...noticed a lot of lime flavor, that almost seems artificial...a little distracting

Poured from big bottle. Hops jump right out dominating aroma. Slightly opaque gold, thin head. Hop flavor is evident, but not overpowering and goes surprising well with the wheat. Floral and spice notes as well, with a touch of honey and citrus.. Clean, crisp feel. Excellent.

GABF 2009. Pours clear amber with an average, fizzy white head, somewhat lasting with good lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (cookie, caramel, meal), average hop (herbs), heavy yeast (horse blanket, barnyard, earth) with notes of pear, date, apple, and honey. Medium bodied, slick texture, average carbonation, and an astringent finish. Average duration, light sweetness, acidity, and bitterness.

Bonus beer from Vtafro - Thanks Victor! Pours a murky golden orange with a white head. Notes of grapefruit, green grapes, orange peel, lemon grass, pine. Flavor is much the same with a dash of window cleaner. All in all a great refreshing beer.
