Commercial Description:
We’ve now hit our second stop on our multi-year trip to explore through beer all that is New Jersey. Exit 11. Its confluence of highways ensures that you can get there from here. So we chose a beer that celebrates a confluence of styles. We looked to Germany and its wheat beers, but then we used a classic English ale yeast. A trio of Pacific Northwest hops chime in to creates refreshing American wheat with a bit of a hop bite. Exit 11 is brewed with 50 % Belgian pale malt and 50 % white wheat. It’s hopped with Columbus, Palisade, and Amarillo hops. We then dry hop it with more than a pound per barrel of Amarillo hops for a bouquet reminiscent of tangerines and apricots. A perfect beer to enjoy when you get where you’re going.

Lots of lemon, some wheat, a little dusty yeast, and earthy hop aromas. Pours hazy light yellow with a decent fizzy head. Lots of lemon up front, soft wheat flavors, lemon and earthy bitterness in the finish. Emminently drinkable. Vibrant carbonatin. Tasty.

Thin head which does not last long. Minimal carbonation. Very flowery aroma with lots of roses, herbal notes and some grass. Color is a hazy golden orange. Bitter flavor with lots of citrusy hops, some oranges, more dry italian herbal spices and some dry grass. Finishes dry and pasty. Not a very good wheat beer. Just nothing special and nothing to get excited about.

750mL Bottle: Pour is hazy gold w/ a fluffy white head which leaves a solid ring of lacing around the glass. Hops are the major player in the aroma at first. After a few minutes of settling the hops seems to oddly fade away. Leaving a more traditional wheat aroma in it’s wake. Flavor is very crisp. Citrus, yeast, a dash of hops & a bit of spice. Mouthfeel is creamy & smooth. Very good, actually, I wasn’t expecting this to be so good.

Memory is a bit hazy on this one. From a bottle, poured a spritzy, super clear gold with a fluffy white head. Mild aroma of orange, wheat, light hop woodsiness. Extremely clean in the mouth. As I said at the time, it is "without blemish." Not extraordinary, but a great dry, fruity wheat character heavy on the orange, spritzy in the mouth. Enjoyed this.

Bottle shared by Shawn: Hazy golden hue with small fading head. The aroma has notes of twangy grapefruit, mango, lemongrass, biscuity malts, and wheat husks. The taste is moderately hoppy and twangy with a wheat and yeast driven background. The mouth feel is lively and refreshing, dry finish. A nice hoppy version of an American Wheat but not Gumballhead.

750ml bottle. Pours a hazy, yellowish-orange color that is reminiscent of Sunny-D. A small head of smooth white foam settles in to a thin layer. Skinny lines and small spots of lacing mark the glass. The aroma shows a fresh wheat grain base with soft hints of honey. Orange and tangerine hop notes add a bright, citrusy element, along with some bitter floral notes. Flavors are similar, again based in honey kissed wheat grain and soft toffee, with fresh, tangerine-dominant hop bitterness and some juicy sweetness. Traces of grapefruit rind and coriander lend a little spicy depth. The moderate body is soft and easy going, sporting light to moderate carbonation and a pretty clean finish. It’s quite a refreshing brew. It doesn’t quite live up to the New Glarus hoppy wheats, but nobody else has either, so that’s nothing to be ashamed of. Solid summertime brew.
