Commercial Description:
This strong golden ale showcases a variety of the ingredients and brewing methods that help differentiate Flying Fish beers. The Grand Cru is fermented at a higher temperature than our other beers adding an undercurrent of fruitiness (although there is no fruit in the beer). Very lightly filtered, the Grand Cru exhibits complex mouthfeel, strong malt flavors, a spicy hop presence and a soothing alcohol warmth, followed by a clean, dry finish. Bottle conditioned, it is excellent with food as well as served by itself.

12 oz. bottle shared with Humolone Red. Gold color with small head & little lacing. It is clear. The aroma is yeasty with some sweetness. The flavor has some spiciness (just from the yeast) and some alcohol. It is very drinkable. Good beer.

The Grand Cru is a bottled-conditioned Belgiun style ale with a wonderful crispness. The taste was full with some cinnamin notes. There is definately a familiar spiciness to this beer which makes it great for entertaining friends during the holiday season.

This brew has a thick aroma of murky earthy notes and more subtle fruity notes, as well as yeast. This is quite drinkable as it does not try to pound down either the murkyness or the fruity side to the flavor. This would be an exelent beer to have with some fresh melon or lighter tasting cheese. Palate does not overpower anything as well, leaving this beer not offensive, but not attention grabbing.

Poured from bottle (1/2008). Fresh, malty aroma tells you that there’s something good going on here. Great flavor that consists of malt, spice, hop, and a burnt vanilla that is quite nice. Angel food cake in the aftertaste. Flavor retains as it warms. Definitely a winner.

Light malty aroma with touches of fruit, grain, hops, honey, coriander, and other spices. Pours a pale yellow, with a small diminishing white head. Heavy sweet flavor with a touch of bitterness. Finish is sweet, but not overbearing. Light to medium bodied with an oily and slightly fizzy texture. Would buy again. (Bottled)

Smells of spices and fruit. The fruit smell is something like an apricot or apple, reminds me of this dry fruit mix I used to get. Pours a light orange/yellow with small head that stays for a little bit. Malty flavor, hard to pin down exactly what it is, slight bitterness at end. Reasonably smooth and tasty. After more tastes, I sense the fruity undertones. Very nice for the price especially.

[12 oz. bottle] Slightly hazy gold color with a thin white head. Very sweet aroma of apples, yeast, brown sugar and other various spices. The flavor begins with a nice apple and yeasty sensation that leads to a slightly spicy tang and a sweet and yeasty aftertaste. The apples and the brown sugar are present throughout the beer. Very spicy and very tasty.

(Huge thanks to Drew for brining me this great brew!)Pours and smells like apple juice! I really like the aroma. Fresh apples and trace yeast. Flavors are of apples ( no surprise), sweet residual sugar, yeast and spice. Finishes with a tangy blast of yeast/hops and a nice biscuity malt flavor. Very clean beer. This kinda reminded me of Delirium Tremens in it’s finest form. I wish I could get this all the time.
