Commercial Description:
This strong golden ale showcases a variety of the ingredients and brewing methods that help differentiate Flying Fish beers. The Grand Cru is fermented at a higher temperature than our other beers adding an undercurrent of fruitiness (although there is no fruit in the beer). Very lightly filtered, the Grand Cru exhibits complex mouthfeel, strong malt flavors, a spicy hop presence and a soothing alcohol warmth, followed by a clean, dry finish. Bottle conditioned, it is excellent with food as well as served by itself.

Solid gold, weak white head. Get a lot of malt pleasantness initially light fruit, but it turns to plain sweet in the end. Body and mouth feel are respectable. Next time I’d leave it on the shelf.

Sweet, corainder, spice, yeast, alcohol, pepper nose. Golden hue. Small white head. Pear, grain, strong carbonation, toffee, pleasant body and mouthfeel. Finishes with an alcoholic blast. Not too much complexity here, I was a bit disappointed.

I'm a little surprised at the low scores here. I was surprised by this beer. Dark gold body is topped by a milky white head that lasts as a thin sheet until the end and laces nicely. The aroma is strong, phenolic and esters dominate. The flavor is supported by a dry, pilsner-like malt and the finish is a little more bitter than I expected, but not enough to unbalance the beer. Tasty.

Hmm... seem to have written this one down on my bar world tour passport. Golden color with a slight head. Malty aroma and taste, with some slight leather and rough aftertastes. Moderate esters in the aroma, almost fruity- cherries etc. Aftertaste is pretty good.

Chicago Real Ale Fest keg #13 tapped a small head of fine to medium sized white colored mostly diminishing bubbles. The body was a transparent uncarbonated yellow orange color and the aroma was more like a pale ale. The mouth feel was smooth malty and hoppy. It had a mild hop mildly vinuous flavor. This was a very drinkable brew but not the best of show.

Chicago RAF. This beer had a small sized off-white head with fine-medium sized bubbles that were mostly lasting. The body was transparent and uncarbonated with a yellow-gold hue. The nose was heavily hoppy, sweet and some spiciness. The flavor was sweet, lightly bitter, hoppy, and some clove and spicy flavors. The mouthfeel was tingly and hoppy. This beer's lacing was very sparse.

A hazy golden color with a spicy sweet aroma. The alcohol is very present and made itself known when I finished the bottle. A flowery, fruity flavor with a crisp finish.

Honey and muscadine, sweet mellow spices, this reminds me almost of a dessert wine. Better when near room temp. Had at RB Philly gathering February 2004.
