Nice nose, a bit wit-ish, lots of clove, bit earthy, plenty of yeasts as well. Very thick and nectarish in the palate, coats the mouth nicely. Starts off with a punch fruitiness, lemon and maybe peach, lots of sugars as well, very sweet. Perhaps a bit of vanilla in the finish, but not much. JonR888710 (999), Cochabamba, Bolivia
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jan 18, 2004 Surprisingly hazy yellow gold body. Average thick white head. Smells of musty lager and clove, sugary malt. Taste begins sweet and tasty, turns to clove spice and finishes with bitter hops. Nothing revolutionary here. Just a decent beer. stasyh (4), USA does not count | 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 5/5 | 20/20 | Jan 18, 2004 This cask conditioned golden ale looks and tastes like beer. Just beer. I didn't get an undercurrent of fruitness or strong malt. It did have a "complex mouthfeel". It just looked and tasted like run of the mill beer, to be honest. But "soothing alcohol warmth" is an understatement. One glass of this beer and I was flying. Extraordinary. I was fortunate enough to get some of the last cask of the season. I can't wait till next year, I will be searching for this ale. With this much kick, it should be a summer ale. I'd like to drink it when the weather is easy, in my home where I don't have to worry about driving afterwards. Dorwart (1831), Robbinsville, New Jersey, USA

Great aroma of canned peaches, a little spice, some yeast and a little alcohol. Color is a medium golden orange. Interesting flavor. Starts of fruity and ends up yeasty and spicy like a good belgian ale should. Not overly complex but very well balanced. Quite refreshing. Little alcohol warming in the finish. Smooth and clean as it goes down. Dry and slightly bitter at the finish. Very soft film in the mouth afterwards. A good example of a belgian ale and one that will please a large number of people. Big white upon serving, which collapses quickly. Good spicy notes, yeast, tartness, dryness and alcool in mouth. Not bad. jgb9348 (2515), Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Dec 31, 2003 Crystal clear golden colour with a thin dense white head. Aroma of bananas, cloves, coriander seed, wheat and strong caster sugar. Medium to Full-bodied; Sweet flavour of fruity sweetness mixed with a spicey flavour. Aftertaste shows cloves, but not much sweetness. Overall, a decent beer-lacking many complexities. Worth trying-not the best for the season however! I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Chevy Chase Wine & Spirits in Washington, D.C. on 29-December-2003.
