Commercial Description:
This strong golden ale showcases a variety of the ingredients and brewing methods that help differentiate Flying Fish beers. The Grand Cru is fermented at a higher temperature than our other beers adding an undercurrent of fruitiness (although there is no fruit in the beer). Very lightly filtered, the Grand Cru exhibits complex mouthfeel, strong malt flavors, a spicy hop presence and a soothing alcohol warmth, followed by a clean, dry finish. Bottle conditioned, it is excellent with food as well as served by itself.

I think this is the 2nd or 3rd time with Flying Fish. And while the beer wasn’t bad, it just didn’t do much for me. Lots of corriander in the aroma, with a showing of citrus. It reminded me in many ways of a witbier. Appearance was really pale for a Belgian style ale that’s not trying to be a wit...or is it? Tasted sweet with a lemony kick to it that was rather refreshing. A Grand Cru is typically "the best" a brewery has to offer. This is Flying Fish’s best?

Bottle. Clear straw color with an even 1 cm thick white head. Lot of coriander on the nose, some Belgian yeastiness. Traditional tripel tastes of sweet grains, Belgian yeast, coriander. Maybe a little on the bland side even for a tripel.

12 oz bottle thanks to a trade. I liked this one because it reminds me of a Duvel. Although it is a little weaker. I liked it.

Feb. 2007 - Not as bad as I thought it would be. Pale yellow pour with foamy head looking like some macro lager. Fruity aroma with spices noticeable. Flavors of pear, lemon, candy and spices. Not altogether bad...which is more than I can say for most of the winter seasonals I’ve had this year.

Draft: Poured a clear golden amber with a thin white head. The aroma was that of citrus, orange, grapefruit and malt. The flavor was that of rusty malts, sweetness of toffee and citrus, and a nice hoppy finish. Overall, a delicious beer.

Bottle, bonused by TomDecapolis. Thanks! Pours clear gold with a thin white head. Aroma of spice, orange peel and toffee. Sweet, full body and light carbonation. Honey-orange fruit taste, leading to a sightly spicy herbal dry finish.

Golden/amber appearance with an average size, white head and modest lacing. Yeasty, spicy aroma along with some honey. Sweet malt taste, spicy (lemon peel, corriander); fruit in the background. Dry, medium-length finish.
