Commercial Description:
This strong golden ale showcases a variety of the ingredients and brewing methods that help differentiate Flying Fish beers. The Grand Cru is fermented at a higher temperature than our other beers adding an undercurrent of fruitiness (although there is no fruit in the beer). Very lightly filtered, the Grand Cru exhibits complex mouthfeel, strong malt flavors, a spicy hop presence and a soothing alcohol warmth, followed by a clean, dry finish. Bottle conditioned, it is excellent with food as well as served by itself.

Very nice. Sweet fruity aroma. Taste is the same with a dry finish. Very easy to drink a few of these. It goes down smooth. A bit of alcohol presence for the cold nights.

From a bottle poured amber with a fair amount of head. Nice malty/hoppy flavor with a good finish.

Golden color with a light white head. Aroma is sweet with some grain, citrus, and berries. Flavor is grainy, sweet, and somewhat odd. Taste seems either off or cheap. Not really good. I still don’t understand how Flying Fish can produce good "rare" stuff like Bourbon Barrel Dubbel and Big Fish, but fail miserably with regular beers.

Bottle from Foodery II in Philly. Pours goldent with a frothy white head. Initial aroma is of fresh orange zest, but as it warms it has hints of peppercorns, coriander, yeast, and clove. Initial flavor of apple, honey, and dough that transitions to clovey and sweet middle. Moderate spicy hop finish that is semi dry. Another solid beer from Flying Fish. I’d be curious to see how this beer would feel on the palate with no filtering at all.
