A beer based on (sweet) caramel, with a respectable body and (IMO) not much bitterness, also some roastedmalt; but lack of complexity and interest. crizay (1050), Brook Park (was Tampa,FL), Ohio, USA

Flavor is chocolate and coffee. Real think and weak, expecting more flavor from a coffee beer. A bare kinda sweet chocolate stout with a touch of coffee. Aurelius (2652), Tallahassee, Florida, USA

Sweet, stouty, some bitterr chocolate and toffee, not too coffeeish. A little metal and char. Thickish, syrupy mouth. Medium coffee finish. PorterPounder (3147), Tallahassee, Florida, USA

Slightly boozy aroma with some solid raisiny notes, molasses. Flavor has some brown sugar, hints of coffee, some raisiny sweetrness , hints of nuts. Thick, creamy mouthfeel. More of a dopplebock than a porter in my book. Alcohol is felt. Rather enjoyed this one - thanks to Aurelius for bringing this back from a business trip. A palate of malty richness exhibiting chocolate and coffee notes. It literally looks like coffee in a pint glass. Unfortunately, it pours with a dissipating head, but the after taste is the best part, where the espresso and bitterness really come through. Easy to drink, albeit a little bit underwhelming.

Pours deep brown with a caramel hue and soapy tan head. The aroma has lots of vanilla, cream, roasted dark malt and a hint of coffee - fairly rich. Medium velvety body with semi-soft carbonation. The flavor starts with more coffee than the aroma, smooth roasted malt, coffee bitterness and light fruitiness. The finish has a bunch of coffee bitterness and harshness. A very good beer for what it is. scraff (1954), Baltimore, Maryland, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jul 19, 2007 Dense brown, thin creamy tan head. Nose held soft notes of toasted espresso beans, milk chocolate, and mocha cream, with lighter swirls of vinous caramel as it climbed to room temp. Flavor held notes of dark berry, coffee, and hints of chocolate cream. Ends with a softly hopped toasty bittersweet finish. Body was light to medium with soft carbonation throughout. Not bad...
