Flavor is exquisite - coffee, cocoa, vanilla, alcohol and hops. Creamy feel, like a milk stout. VERY drinkable. Even better as it warmed. Creme de cacao notes. Like a fine dessert. Simply outstanding! beachbum25 (800), Powellville, Maryland, USA

Roasted malt/cola aroma. Strong roasted malt flavor w/some coffee/cola/chocolate overtones. Had a good amount of carbination-more than a standard porter. This one grew on me as I drank it, not an overpowering, knock your socks off brew. A subtle, enjoyable flavor. Long rich finish, good mouth feel, alcohol is well hidden. toncatcher (228), Santee - SAN DIEGO, California, USA

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Apr 21, 2007 Wow, I can not believe I have rated a Flying Fish beer before this as I have drank many in the past: Thanks Ty for the stoutie rating...a husky brown hue with a fading beige head and some lace. The aroma has notes of walnuts, espresso (doh), milk chocolate, grassy and slightly herbal hops and a quick dash of star anise. The taste starts with a lovely layer of milk chocolate goodness supported by a refreshing brush of noble hop bitterness finishing with a straight shot of coffee boldness. The aftertaste is simply wonderful linger nuts, mocha, and coffee. I love the simple but tasty flavor profile of this brew. The mouth feel is slightly oily and lush but since it is a porter, more thin and watery than it’s big bro. I enjoy this and would like another chance to rate it again. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 19, 2007 12oz, no date from Dickinsonbeer, thanks Paul! Pours a hazy dark brown with brown edges and a minimal beige head that fades to a ring. Aroma definitely has some sweetened cappucinoish coffee to go with the roasted malts, toasted almonds, sugar cookie, and maybe a hint of anise. Flavor had a bit more coffee and roasted malts. There was also almonds, alcohol, grain, sugar cookie again, and a lightly sweet roasted finish. Low bitterness. Overall fairly sweet, and the alcohol was covered well enough. Medium body with low carbonation. Pretty good. badnewsbeers (1026), Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Apr 16, 2007 Bottle, at csbosox KC tasting 4/14. Pour is brown, with highlights of amber. Aroma is fairly tame, though it bit of the espresso comes through. Taste is roasted malt, and a but hot (alcohol). I was expecting bigger espresso profile to this one, though I preferred it as it was. kramer (2472), Sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Apr 14, 2007 12 oz bottle, from Capone’s in Norristown PA. Pours a clear dark mahogany brown body under a small large bubbled fizzy head that faded quickly to a thin ring. Aroma is a combo of chocolate, roast, caramel, and heavily roasted coffee. A hint of vanilla beans and dark fruits. The flavor is heavier on the coffee and chocolate up front with a light caramel sweetness and a touch of roast on the finish. Minimal to no alcohol flavor and a little fruitiness throughout. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with a fairly thick texture and nice soft slightly fizzy carbonation. Overall, this wasn’t the most intense or characterful beer, but it was incredibly drinkable. Lower on the wow factor, but higher on the satisfaction scale.
