Commercial Description:
This robust dark brew has been created using rich Columbian dark roast coffee to celebrate our 10th anniversary in royal fashion. The enticing regal aromas of toffee and licorice lead to the coronation of taste; a palate of malty richness exhibiting chocolate and coffee notes, balanced by the noble and novel Mt. Rainer hop, all topped with a rich creamy crown. This very special offering will warm your soul and lift your spirits. Oh yeah, it also packs a royal kick at 8% alcohol.

Bottle from MrBendo. Dark orange-brown body, translucent, thin quickly dissipating tan head. Aroma of milk chocolate, vanilla, heavy burnt caramels, and coffee. Very sweet, suggesting unfermented malts. Watery, thin body is a slurry of chocolate and unfermented sugars, candies, and coffee. The finish fades away quickly. Reminds me of a homebrew.

Dark brown pour with no head. Aroma is yeasty with some floral notes. Roasted coffee, caramel and some vanilla on the first sip. Somewhat toasted flavor. Very light. Much thinner than I expected. Medium carbonation. The after taste is the best part, where the espresso and bitterness really shine through. Easy to drink, albeit a little bit underwhelming.

12 oz bottle via Dickinsonbeer (thanks). Pours a dark brown/almost black with a tiny beige head. Nose is mostly yeast and fruity esters, with some hops. Taste is roasted barkey, some caramel, some coffee and some citrusy hops. Body is light, carbonation is a bit high.

good for a flying fish beer but like most of their beers its kinda weak anda little thin.pours brown dark but still lighter than most imp. porters. thin watery appearance. bitter roastty coffee smell a little metallic sourness too. maybe a bit of toffee and a hint of licorice but th elonger i sniff the more i smell metal. fells thin and crisp. taste bitter and like coffee minimal sweetness. def. not rich or creamy. the longer i drink the more one dimensional it becomes. but still i be loving porters and stouts so im happy.

From a bottle, pours a thin dark brown color with very little head. Kind of a mix between sweet roasted malts and a bitter espresso taste. I expected a little more kick from the flavor, but it didn’t quite deliver. However, my hopes may have been too high as I am a big fan of Flying Fish. Very pleasant beer, although due to the heavyness of the beer and high alcohol content it is hard to have more than one or two at a time.

Bottle shared by bgburdman: Brown in color with an off white head. Aroma, coffee, lots of it, roasted notes, some chocolate. Flavor, dark fruits, caramel, chocolate, loads of coffee, and a good deal of roasted coffee like bitterness on the finish.

(12oz bottle) Small tan head that diminishes rapidly, atop dark cola body. Aroma is medium sweet, rich coffee, some roast, light chocolate. Taste is moderately sweet, sugared coffee, some milk, caramel, roast, bourbon, light chocolate. Creamy medium-full body.

Draft at the Grey Lodge in Philly. Nice solid porter. Good rasty flavor that wasn’t too overpowering. Alcohol was hidden very well.
