Aroma of milk chocolate, vanilla, heavy burnt caramels, and coffee. Very sweet, suggesting unfermented malts. Watery, thin body is a slurry of chocolate and unfermented sugars, candies, and coffee. The finish fades away quickly. Reminds me of a homebrew. BleacherBum (176), Blowing Rock, North Carolina, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 9, 2007 Dark brown pour with no head. Aroma is yeasty with some floral notes. Roasted coffee, caramel and some vanilla on the first sip. Somewhat toasted flavor. Very light. Much thinner than I expected. Medium carbonation. The after taste is the best part, where the espresso and bitterness really shine through. Easy to drink, albeit a little bit underwhelming. kenb (1100), Oregon, USA

| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 1/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Mar 3, 2007 good for a flying fish beer but like most of their beers its kinda weak anda little thin.pours brown dark but still lighter than most imp. porters. thin watery appearance. bitter roastty coffee smell a little metallic sourness too. maybe a bit of toffee and a hint of licorice but th elonger i sniff the more i smell metal. fells thin and crisp. taste bitter and like coffee minimal sweetness. def. not rich or creamy. the longer i drink the more one dimensional it becomes. but still i be loving porters and stouts so im happy. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 2, 2007 From a bottle, pours a thin dark brown color with very little head. Kind of a mix between sweet roasted malts and a bitter espresso taste. I expected a little more kick from the flavor, but it didn’t quite deliver. However, my hopes may have been too high as I am a big fan of Flying Fish. Very pleasant beer, although due to the heavyness of the beer and high alcohol content it is hard to have more than one or two at a time. sliffy (2012), Columbus, Ohio, USA
