Fairly thin body overall with some chocolatey sweetness and prominent alcohol notes. Some toast and coffee bean flavours as well.

| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Feb 15, 2008 Bottle: pours a cloudy brownish color with a thin, tan head, aroma has some coffee in it but I’m not picking up as much aroma as I expected I would, flavor is coffee, lots of malt and maybe some bitter chocolate. I’m not a big fan of this or any Flying Fish brew that I have had to this point. Might be best for me to stay away from this brewery. Beerlando (2340), Orlando, Florida, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Feb 13, 2008 Pours a dark brownish-ruby color. A small, foamy, khaki colored head settles quickly to a swirly film, and leaves behind sudsy, spotty lacing. Dark fruity aromas hit up front, with cola, caramel, oak, and vanilla soon to follow. The coffee component is there, though it is not nearly as prominent as one would expect given the name. Same goes for the chocolate. The flavor shows more intensive scorched caramel, dry woodsy notes, and a touch of molasses sweetness. Coffee emerges a bit more, and the dark fruits define themselves as figs. The smooth, medium body exhibits balanced carbonation levels, finishing with a moderate duration sweet fruitiness. This is a pretty tasty porter. Not out of this world, but solid nonetheless. kevin62 (267), New Jersey, USA

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Feb 7, 2008 Dark and roasty with a whack of burnt coffee in the nose this is a super BIG porter. Sweet and malty with a long gooey finish, Flying Fish’s Imperial Porter does little to hide its ample alcohol content. Sweet and warming with some linging licorice and a bit of hop bite on the finish, this robust porter is one to drink by itself, as it will likely overpower most meals thrown its way. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Feb 6, 2008 12ozer I’ve had in the fridge for a while, meaning from a trade a while back from that. thanks to whomever sent me this. Nice wallop of a nose on the pour. Pours dark brownish black with a thin tan head. Nose is big roasted coffee with some espresso in it. Heavy malt tones in there as well. Taste is sweet, and robust with a big coffee punch. Roasted coffee beans really come through nicely in this brew. Good coffee porter. Hank1980 (764), Athens, Georgia, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Feb 4, 2008 Nice coffee aroma with some chocolate. Appearance is dark with a small fading head. Taste is somewhat sweet for an porter (or whatever this is), but not bad. Medium bodied with a little carbonation. Overall, a good drinkable brew. tjthresh (1778), Greenfield, Indiana, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Jan 24, 2008 12 ounce bottle from BBB63. Pour brown. The head fizzed away like it was a Coke. The aroma is lightly chocolate, vanilla, and some coffee. The taste is quite chocolatey. I don’t taste much coffee here at all. A bit sweet tasting, but with a dry finish. High carbonation. Very avarage in my mind.
