Commercial Description:
This robust dark brew has been created using rich Columbian dark roast coffee to celebrate our 10th anniversary in royal fashion. The enticing regal aromas of toffee and licorice lead to the coronation of taste; a palate of malty richness exhibiting chocolate and coffee notes, balanced by the noble and novel Mt. Rainer hop, all topped with a rich creamy crown. This very special offering will warm your soul and lift your spirits. Oh yeah, it also packs a royal kick at 8% alcohol.

(Bottle 35,5 cl) Courtesy of Storm. Pours a clear, reddish brown with a beige head. Sweetish, roasted malt aroma - some vanilla also. Medium body with sweetish, roasted malt, lightly burned with some cola notes and a dry, burned bitterness from the malt. 310807

Dark mahogany color. A beer based on (sweet) caramel, with a respectable body and (IMO) not much bitterness, also some roastedmalt; but lack of complexity and interest.

12oz bottle shared courtesy of Zrrbrrt. Poured a deep brown color with a smaller sized off white head. Aromas of chocolate, vanilla, some dark fruits, and light coffee/ latte. Almost reminded me of a baltic porter. Tastes of roast, vanilla and light coffee. I love coffee beers and anything with the words ’Imperial Espresso’ in the title gets me excited to try, but I have to admit, I was let down. To me Imperial Espresso should be all about the coffee and I found the coffee aspect to be lacking (that being said, this was still a solid beer).

Bottle... Dark chestnut-colored lager with a small, fizzy, khaki head. The aroma is spent coffee grounds, cola and chocolate with just a rumor of campfire smoke. Black cherries and coffee with hints of cocoa and cola in the flavor. Leans slightly toward the sweet side of balance. Medium-bodied and fizzy. Lengthy, mildly bitter, acrid finish. Cheers to boboski for supplying the bottle!

Sampled on 2/3/07 courtesy of boboski: Pours a transparent dark mahogany with a thin, wispy, light tan head. Aroma of slightly earthy toasty dark malt with a hint of coffee. Body starts with a touch of caramely sweetness, some earthy roasty coffee and dark chocolate with a touch of tartness. A decent brew, but could use a little more complexity.
