It has a nice chocolate malty nose. The taste is very smooth and well balanced with a nice chocolate malt flavor and notes of caramel. I am very picky with Porters and this is one I can always drink richlikebeer (832), Easton, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 16, 2004 Smells like it’s description says it should, chocolate and malts. The head was huge and creamy, stayed on top for a long time, body was dark brown. Heavy roasted flavor, almost felt like a stout, and then the hops crept up at the end and left just a tad bit of aftertaste on your tounge. Decent amount of body, I would call it chewy rather than thick, again almost a stout. Overall, this was my second product from this brewer, and both have been nice beers, not amazing, but very nice. | 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Nov 29, 2004 Bottle from slob, thanks! Pours ebony with dark orange highlights and a HUGE foramy tan head that gradually dissipated into a small rocky head that left some lacing. The aroma was initially diminished somewhat by the thick head, but grudgingly gave way to roasty malts, chocolate notes and floral hops. Flavor is good, dark malts, toast, coffee and a significant bitter finish. Medium body and gentle carbonation. Dorwart (1825), Robbinsville, New Jersey, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Nov 24, 2004 Thin but very creamy head with light carbonation. Beautiful dark ruby/brown in color. Aroma of roasted grains, coffee and a good helping of malts. Nice roasted flavor with a load of malts again, bit of coffee and burnt toast. Slightly bitter finish with a pleasant smoky aftertaste. An ok porter. Drew (2410), Kent, Ohio, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Nov 8, 2004 Chocolate roastiness allthe way through, but the body was a little too thin - it kept the flavors weak, not watery, just subdued. Later on, some hops show up - nice. The thin body did make it very easy to drink - you could polish off a 6’er of this no problem. tiggmtl (4311), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Nov 4, 2004 Sweet chocolate and mild fruitiness in the aroma. Clear mahogany brown with thin, large-bubbled tan head that recedes to patchy cover. Floral hops frolic with sweet malts and only the tiniest hint of roastiness with some bitterness in the finish. Fair carbonation is engaging on the tongue while body is rather quaffable for a porter. Bottle. MartinT (5068), Montreal, Quebec, Canada
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 5/5 | 10/20 | Oct 30, 2004 A corpulent, satisfying body hides under its girth a subtle note of buckwheat honey and some tired molasses...This body is by far the most pleasant attribute as the flavors are watery, dry and sometimes reminiscent of a void...Impressive how the body can be so portly yet all flavors seem to be hibernating...Maybe an old bottle?... hopdog (5607), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA
