A robust, smooth and full bodied with prominent chocolate notes. Five different malts from both the U.S. and Belgium and three varieties of hops (all from the Pacific Northwest) are required to give the beer its unique character.

Relitively sweet flavor and aroma. Not a big attention grabber. Rich brown color. Drinkable, but ordinary.

Probably the best porter I have had. Big chocolate and coffee taste. Very dark in color. Not as thin as n=most porters. Very substantial. A+

(bottled) Deep garnet color with near brilliant clarity. Roasted, chocolate malt aromas. Medium-bodied with lowish carbonation. Rich, smooth malt flavor with roasted grain, nice fruit and caramel. Firm hop bitterness leads to a pleasant dry finish. Well balanced and clean.

Aroma dominated by alcohol, sweet malts, and a chocolatey smell. Appearance is dark brown in color. Somewhat sweet flavor up front with a malty, chocolatey finish. Mouthfeel is ok.

Soapy coffee aroma. Texture is a little rough and gritty, with mild flavors of chalky coffee and caramel. Soft on the palate, with a rough finish.

Coca-cola color, clear. Overcarbonated but smooth. A very basic porter, roasted and a bit chocolatey perhaps, but rather one dimensional. The aroma has a blend of the same, chocolatey with a plastic quality. Slight sour, milky, too.

(Best by 10/31/03) The beer is almost opaque, just a little light shines through my glass. I got a nice rocky head on my pour. The nose is straightforward dark chocolate, coffee, and hops. The palate is medium in body with a refreshing, but subtle acidity. The flavors are predominately yeast, fruit, and chocolate. The finish is restrained and complex at the same time. I really like this beer, because it is all too easy to drink pint after pint.

Dark brown color with a tan head. Roasted coffee aroma. Flavor of coffee and chocolate. Has a little bitterness and way too much carbonation. Thanks Dogbrick.
