I am a porter fan, but the vaguely pastryish/doughy aroma alluded to in another review interfered with the experience of the beer. Overall it was a decent beer, but I would not order it again. A solid beer that I would definitely want to return to again. Has a hearty flavor that many porters lack. zathrus13 (1299), Mount Laurel, New Jersey, USA

Aromas of chocolate, brown sugar, coffee, and roasted malt. Flavor is roasted malt, chocolate, and coffee. Body is medium. This is a pretty good regular, everyday type of porter. notalush (2664), Denver, Colorado, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | May 15, 2005 Nearly black pour with nearly no head - mildly sweet aroma with brown sugar, coffee, some cookie/pastry-ish smell - very roasty flavor, some sweetness up front, some plum and chocolate - smooth mouthfeel - a very solid porter, but it doesn’t really stand out. jimmack (1221), Nutley, New Jersey, USA

Mild roasted malt aroma with a bit of coffee. Flavor was the same as the aroma. Coming from the hand pumped cask, the beer was incredibly smooth
but a bit too mild in flavor. Lou18 (1353), West Paterson, New Jersey, USA

Enticing aroma of chocolate and nuts, a bit estery. Medium bodied. Good carbonation. Nice chocolate sweetness up front in flavor, hops pick up towards the end to provide a subtle bitterness for balance. Decent.
