Bottle: Dark black. Nose of light roast and a touch of licorice; tar, tobacco (maybe). The flavor is thinner, some light coffee. A bit lacking in intensity, moderately malty but not enough caramel or body.

Aroma of dark roasted malt and molasses. Dark brown with a quickly dissipating head and brown foam. Flavor is light metallic dark roasted malt, some chocolate, molasses, and coffee flavors. Palate is light and somewhat watery with a mild bitter duration. Not overly impressive but drinkable. A weak stout.

12oz bottle, courtesy of tjthresh. Thanks, Tom! Pours a dark, slightly oily, blackish-brown color; headless. Decently roasted coffee in the aroma; straightforward. Medium-to-full mouthfeel: lively carbonation; roasted coffee and some chocolate, but mostly coffee; one-dimensional, with a roasted cofee and slightly chalky finish.

(12oz bottle, thanks kmweaver) Tan head atop black body. Aroma is medium sweet, roast, coffee, some chocolate, light cherry. Taste is medium sweet, roast, some coffee, light burnt, cola. Watery light-medium body.

Poured from a 12 oz. Chocolate-oak color, fairly thin. Coffee oil and brusque rye aroma. Dank earth, mulch, and black cherries; rich malts. The promise of a robust, vigorous stout character is left unfulfilled in a flavor that only weakly echoes with wet espresso grind, dirty water, and a dominant plastic edge. Jagged and very thin, with light baker’s chocolate on the back end, burnt. Similarly weak and barely tolerable texture. Pointless. Thanks for sharing, Ken.

Black black. Is that a color? No, actually black is considered not to be a color, so...its damn black. Medium dark tanned/soft brown capping of lumpy thick foam. Lacing is adequated placed in a few scattered spots, flecks, and lumpy strings. Nice display on the nose. Big black roasted malts and grains on the nose. Burntness, roasted bitters, dryish, and lofty espresso notes burst from the glass. A tad bit dark fudgey and chocolatey with a little oaty touch of sweetness. Nice! Flavor profile is quite nice here. Big on tone and lasting flavors of roasted burnt stuff and spent coffee; dryish, yet leaks a bit of oaty sweetness way underneath. A touch chocolatey and plenty of roastyness continues late with a mild bitterness of burnt coffee. This stuff lays a groundwork that doesn’t quite until, well...never. It sticks with ya for a long time spending a oaty chocolate roast into the pocket book of your palate. Yum! Feel is pretty full and roasty. Mostly dry at the front and middle, gains some pace, stays roasted, burnt, and coffee toned. Then late, a very simple chocolate sweetness emerges underneath as does a bit of oatyness, yet stays dry and roasted. Solid stuff! Wow, who wouldv’e figured a beer this good is sitting in Kansas? A solid stout here that won’t dissapoint.

12 oz bottle enjoyed above DDC. Poured a deep dark black with a dense fizzy light tan head, very nice almost a 5. Good aroma of chocolate, coffee and tobacco. Flavor was weak with a watery thin body and a burnt malt bitterness that dominated. Good appearance and aroma but not so good flavor and palate.

Bottled. Poured very deep brown, perhaps black with a grand initial cap of deep brown head.. receded rather quickly. The aroma picked up lightly smoked dark chocolates above all, simple, but well-executed.. nice ’n malty. The flavor had nice dark chocolate and light smoke initially, but picked up heavy sour tannins on the back-end.. came back with some dried dark chocolate and cocoa at the finish. Probably a touch lighter on medium-bodied on the palate with a decent flow. Not bad.
