Cask at Volo Cask Days ’09. Pours a dark brown with small tan head. Big fresh, green hoppy nose with slight roast. Flavour is dominated by nice hopping too. Nice bitter finish. Quite good.

[2614-20091129] Tap. Roasted sweet malt grain aroma with mild chocolate notes. Clear, very dark brown red body with a medium-lasting creamy off-white head and thick lacing. Roasted bittersweet chocolate malt grain flavour has a little bit of spruce hops throughout. Medium-full body. Tasty, could even hold more body.

On tap at Chancey Smith’s- Thanks for getting this on Milos!- A very deep brown that only lets a bit of light in. Comes topped with a very generous mocha froth that lasted the entire length I drank the beer. Interesting nose is slightly roasty, with fresh leafy hops, citrus, a bit of pine, and vanilla. Tastes interesting. Only slightly of roasted malts and then come the fresh hops, pine, mint. There is some soft fruit towards the end with a bit of oak. Medium bodied. Very much a cross style. Very good job Peter!

Unlabled bottle from brewery. Pours very dark brown with tan head that lasts. Citrusy aroma, dry medium roasted malt, with a light bit of residual sweetness that tie well together. Smooth full body and finishes with bitter citrus

2009-11-29. Dark brown body with a modest tan head and lace. Modest aroma has Newcastle like brown ale touches beneath a modestly hoppy character. Muted vegetation, bit mild overall. 6+ Flavour is odd at first, interesting hops, light vegetation, light citrus, mild roast and underlying malt. Pleasant dilute citrus lingers in the finish. Flavours come together better as the glass goes on. Average plus palate suits it. Decent. On tap at Volo, Toronto

On tap at Volo. Pours a deep clear black to brown with ruby highlights and a thin tanned beige head. Dry roast and sticky piney hop aromas. Just on the thin side of medium with a nice soft roast and chocolate Finishes a bit softer than expected from the hop profile, but with some nice light roast components and a bit of grapefruit bitterness.
