| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 16, 2009 Draft at the Saucer and poured into a snifter. Poured a nice black color with a short lived brown head. Moderate lacing throughout the tasting. The bourbon in this comes first in the smell followed by vanilla and chocolate. The taste is a very nice blend of bourbon and vanilla. At first I thought it was a bit sweet but as it warmed it balanced itself. A fantastic beer from Foothills that I will try to get whenever they have it on draft. hophead75 (1954), Boonton, New Jersey, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 22, 2009 I think I had the Bourbon barrel version of this at EBF Session 1. Aroma of light bourbon, chocolate, light toast, and oak. Taste has some mild roasted notes, with a nice amount of chocolate, light bourbon, molasses. Medium bodied, finishes with a mild to moderate hop bitterness. Nicely done. Rciesla (3610), Exit 15W, New Jersey, USA

Pours a dark brown body with garnet hues and an off white head. Sweet malty, scotch, woody dry with some alcohol. Damp wood, some light smoke, stale milk with a dry mellow woody finish. interesting enough. StFun (535), Indiana, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Feb 18, 2009 Not my favorite of the night. Seemed too thin and boozy, with not enough porter to back it up. Aroma was good, bourbon, wood, vanilla, chocolate, and malt. Texture was good as well. Just too hot and slightly unbalanced. I only got a hint of roast and chocolate in the taste and I wish there had been more. I think this could be good with time, but too young and hot for my tastes. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Feb 9, 2009 First beer sampled at Pre-Sex. I actually think the People’s Porter is among the best beers Foothills brews. My first thought was that the bourbon overwhelmed the base beer, but it actually settled down fairly quickly. With a big pour, the sharp and very young bourbon came on aggressively in the nose. But while the base is slightly occluded, it’s a rich and satisfying beer whose sweet flavors blend well with the deep roasts of the porter. TURDFERGUSON (1601), Carrboro, North Carolina, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Feb 9, 2009 At presex. Pretty beer with a distinct and complex bourbon character. The pappy van winkle shows and I actually enjoy it. Dark brown with brown sugar, vanilla, roasted malts, chocolate. Tasty beer timsilvia32 (446), from Michigan now in Charlotte, North Carolina, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Feb 8, 2009 Dark brown pour with a nice whitish head, at the Sexual Chocolate pre-party. Earthy malt, coffee aroma with some vanilla, barrel hints. Flavor has no such hints, it is right there smack up front. Vanilla, oak and molasses really prominent. Earthy malt and mocha/coffee were really suppressed by the barrel. Finished pretty sweet, different from the typical porter. Just a bit too much candy like sweetness for me. I enjoyed it but it probably would not be for everyone.
