durhambeer (1186), Durham, USA Oct 7, 2009 Generous pour from the WBF in Durham. Goddamn, this is a tasty-ass beer. Pours black with lovely creamy mocha head. Nose of vanilla more than chocolate, mild coffee roast, bourbon, and the lovely rounded creamy fruit notes offered by Pappy Van Winkle barrels... a distinctively excellent whiskey that makes for good barrel aging. Smooth palate; easy to drink and not too alcoholic. Really freaking good. emacgee (1859), Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA Oct 7, 2009 WBF sample, holla. Also rating number 1800. Pours a nice dark black with a one finger dark chestnut brown head. Nose is prominently bourbon, nice smooth vanilla mingling with milk chocolate, sharp oaky notes in the background. Flavor shows a prominent barrel character as well, oak, tannic, vanilla, bitter chocolate, mild roast. Velvety palate with a mild roast. Nice. pantanap (1322), Chicago, Illinois, USA Oct 6, 2009 multiple samples at brewgrass festival 2009. had to wait for the 5pm pouring of this for the taste....poured deep black with a moderate to heavy medium tan head..... aroma of mostly sweet milk chocolate, cocoa, light bourbon, and mild roast component.... flavors were very much of the same. not overly barrel-forward which was a nice change of pace. emphasis on the smooth creamy chocolate notes. silky on the palate. SpringsLicker (2041), Tennessee, USA Sep 21, 2009 Brewgrass 2009
Black with a tall tan head.
Lots of roast malt, coffee, chocolate and just enough Bourbon to give this a wonderful aroma.
Flavor follows the aroma.
Well balanced, just the right amount of BA to make this a winner. fredandboboflo (1395), East Setauket, New York, USA Jul 11, 2009 Tap at ACBF. Very nice example of barrel aging with present but not overpowering wood and bourbon that go very well with the rich chocolate and coffee notes of a standout impy. Not sure if it necessarily makes Sexual Chocolate too much better more than just changes it in an equally tasty way, but either way, loved it like the original. LilBeerDoctor (1480), East Setauket, New York, USA Jun 22, 2009 Draft at ACBF09. Pours black with a tan head. Aroma of bourbon and chocolate. Flavor of bourbon initially with a fudgy chocolate finish. Pretty good for a barrel aged beer with a mellow bourbon flavor that blends well with the base beer. Nice beer.
7/4/8/4/15 (3.8/5) zapprentice (309), East Setauket, New York, USA Jun 21, 2009 ACBF09. Outstanding beer. Had this the same day as the normal sexual chocolate. Aroma if of complex chocolate and coffee with an oak and bourbon undertone. Flavor allows these notes to all mix beautifully together. Great.
