Aug 14, 2006 Sampled at RBSG 2006- Grand Tasting. Pours dark amber to light brown with a thin off-white head. This has an unusual off flavored tartness that can be smelled as sour and tasted. Flavor is almost vile. Perhaps it did not transport well?

Jul 22, 2006 Growler at RBSG 2006. Copperish brown. Nose is odd. Sort of earthy and grainy. Taste is malty, sort of smoky, fruity, and wheaty. Body is light-medium with a faint carbonation feel to it. Finishes with more sweet malts, smoky notes, fruit and light spices. A different kind of Dunkelweizen.

Jul 18, 2006 Updated: Mar 24, 2008Growler... RBSG2006... Clear copper ale with a small, creamy, off-white head. Smoky nose and flavor... very rauchbieresque. Hickory. Perfectly balanced. A bit tangy. Medium-bodied with a watery mouthfeel and faint carbonation. Thin, lifeless finish.

Jul 12, 2006 Draft at Barley’s in Asheville. Serven with a lemon wedge that was immediately pitched out. Small white head, moderately lasting and a reddish-amber body. Aroma was malty and caramel-like, and there was more roastiness in the flavor than I would’ve expected, based on the aroma. Something about the palate really pleased me. In an odd way, it’s a really smooth soft texture.

Jun 28, 2006 Draught at the brewpub. Served with a slice of lime that I discarded. Clear ruddy brown color. Orange around the edges. Thin off white head. Smells and tastes of clove and banana. There is also a hint of caramel in the aroma. Fresh cereal grain aftertaste. Pretty good.
