Light aroma of citrus, resin and caramel. Flavor is similar with more citrus and resin than caramel. Light-medium body is watery and tingly. tjthresh (1774), Greenfield, Indiana, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Feb 8, 2009 Draft at the brewpub. Pours amber with white head. Good bubble gum hop nose. Really not a distinct flavor. Quite bitter though. Kind of light body. JCB (1768), Durham, North Carolina, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 15, 2008 Backlogged rating. Had on tap at the Federal, Durham, NC, summer 2007. This was the first Foothills brew to make me really sit up and take notice. A huge grapefruity aroma wafting off the kind of cloudy orange body and solid foamberg one expects from the So Cal titans of the style. Wonderful use of simcoe makes this so delicious, several pints were had. If (when?) Jamie and co. start bottling, I will session the hell out of this beer. lithy (1725), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Nov 1, 2009 Sampled at the 13th Annual Knoxville Brewer’s Jam. Orange-red, white cover. Big herbal pine hop aroma, caramel. Taste is big bitter pine herbal spiciness, and good caramel to back up the hops. ross (1709), weddington, South Carolina, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Mar 18, 2006 On tap at the brew pub. Comes to me in a dark brown amber colored liquid. Taste is hoppy, and malty but maybe a tad watered down. This could use some work, but this is a really good foundation to start an IPA on. Good job! Butters (1652), Virginia, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | May 11, 2008 Amazing hop aroma. Simcoe is obvious in the flavor, but not overbearing and matches in perfect harmony with the other hops. Bitter finish. Very tasty. NachlamSie (1641), Tennessee, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Sep 16, 2006 draught. The pour produces a full copper boddy with a solid, dense white head. The aroma is crisp, bright, and spicy with well balanced notes of grapefruit, pine, and caramel. The flavor is a moderate attack of prickling, peppery hops which is almost washed away by sweet caramel and leafy herbal notes, but manages to linger on the palate. Hoppyum has a semi-sticky mouthfeel and is an excellent IPA for any occasion, though I’d reccomend the Seeing Double for an occassion which requires true hop onslaught. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 7, 2007 Growler from the brewery. Thanks for picking this up Anthony! I’ve had the seeing double many times and expected some good things from this, their regular ipa. Pours clearer than most ipa’s I have been drinking with a little white head and okay lacing. Aroma is piney hops though its a little bit subdued. Flavor is similar with floral and citrus hops also apparent and a light, bready, malt backbone. Fine, unoffensive, easy drinking. But I was still left wanting a little more.
