Growler at Ale Atlanta. Pours amber with a mostly receding white head. Aroma of pine, citrus, and mango. Taste is similar, and well hopped. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with lively carbonation. Impressive ipa!

From a clear glass half gallon growler with a painted/screened Foothills logo on the front and serving and growler care instructions on the back. Made a very good appearance, poured a chill hazy amber and golden hued orange with a large fluffy, bubbly topped head that settled into a thin foamy lacing. Had a sweet honey and biscuity malt nose with a surrounding piney, floral and citric hoppiness. A crisp, hop textured, light from the carbonation, medium bodied mouth feel, very good IPA drinkability. At first taste, the smooth honey pale maltiness is upfront, followed by the piney, earthy, citric hoppiness, a very good balance between the hop bitterness and the sweet malts, towards the middle a tasty butteriness starts to creep in, with a honey malt and citric finish, the hop bitterness softly lingering in the palate, begging you to consume more of this IPA. One of the better trades I’ve done in the last two years, this was just an excellent, fresh tasting IPA, the carbonation held up great on it’s trip to west central Illinois. I first learnt of Foothills from ads and reviews in different beer publications, I am very happy to finally try their product.

Draft at ACBF09. Pours a cloudy orange with a small white head. Aroma of sweaty hops and rich hop oils. Flavor of citrus and rich hop oils. This one has a full palate, very well balanced, and superbly drinkable. One of my favorites from a fest that featured many top IPAs. This is a hidden gem. 8/4/9/4/17 (4.2/5)

Sampled many times at the Capitol City Carnival, 2007. Clear medium copper with off-white head. Nice centennial/cascade hop nose. Flavor has a light caramel base then a medium-strength dose of piney citrusy PacNW hops. Very smooth, tasty and drinkable with non-harsh yet ample hop bitterness. Medium bodied with an easy-drinking texture and moderate carbonation. The kind of IPA you can drink all night. Good stuff.

On tap at the brewery. Big Simcoe hops give it a very herbal/citrus flavor. One of their better brews.

@ Brewpub 5/30/06. Good nose, sweet & nutty. Clean brownish orange color, small head, minor lacing. Bittersweet flavor Nice mix of caramel, citrus and a little grassy. Medium body, creamy mouthfeel, bitter finish. Alot like the IIPA I had earlier, but obviously easier to drink. Good IPA.

Draft at the brewpub. Orangish copper color with a small off-white head that lasts. Nice aroma of caramel malt and fresh citrusy/resiny hops. Flavor is caramel malt, earth, and citrusy/resiny hops, some orange and a little pine. Not over the top, but good. Body medium.
