Aroma strong of citrus flowers, pines, and hops. Flavour of a bold IPA, much the same as the aroma, extremely quaffable, sticky mouth feel. What an awesome gem of a beer from NC. | 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jun 21, 2009 Draft at ACBF09. Pours a cloudy orange with a small white head. Aroma of sweaty hops and rich hop oils. Flavor of citrus and rich hop oils. This one has a full palate, very well balanced, and superbly drinkable. One of my favorites from a fest that featured many top IPAs. This is a hidden gem.

| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Aug 19, 2007 Straight from my kegerator. Bitter hops aroma with some spicy undertones. Looks perfect...auburn, slight haze, thick white head that stay for the whole pint, but isn’t soapy. The flavor is pine, citrus hops, and a hint of grapefruit with a bit of pepper. Tastes just like what I’d want out of an IPA. Goes down smooth, with only a bit of residual bitterness burn. Sessionable to a point, and so far the best beer I’ve had in my kegerator. bboven (103), Greensboro, North Carolina, USA

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Apr 21, 2006 From a clear glass half gallon growler with a painted/screened Foothills logo on the front and serving and growler care instructions on the back. Made a very good appearance, poured a chill hazy amber and golden hued orange with a large fluffy, bubbly topped head that settled into a thin foamy lacing. Had a sweet honey and biscuity malt nose with a surrounding piney, floral and citric hoppiness. A crisp, hop textured, light from the carbonation, medium bodied mouth feel, very good IPA drinkability. At first taste, the smooth honey pale maltiness is upfront, followed by the piney, earthy, citric hoppiness, a very good balance between the hop bitterness and the sweet malts, towards the middle a tasty butteriness starts to creep in, with a honey malt and citric finish, the hop bitterness softly lingering in the palate, begging you to consume more of this IPA.
One of the better trades I’ve done in the last two years, this was just an excellent, fresh tasting IPA, the carbonation held up great on it’s trip to west central Illinois. I first learnt of Foothills from ads and reviews in different beer publications, I am very happy to finally try their product.

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Aug 25, 2007 This pours out a nice orange color with a thick light orange head. Aroma is sweet at first of toasty caramel malts then a fresh pine scent and citrus aroma come in and pass. Upon first sip a second of sweet malts before fresh pine and grapefruit come in and take over. Crisp and clean carbonation and fresh hops leave an nice flavor in the mouth. This is an excellent IPA and I’m very impressed. freekyp (900), Thomasville, North Carolina, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Sep 9, 2006 One of the better East Coast IPAs. Less floral and far more resiny in both aroma and flavor, Hoppyum packs tons of flavor with a medium bitterness. Solid malt underpinning mitigates the ample hop character. Very fine!
