Came fairly clear and not much of any hefe haze going on in the glass. Slight white head that dissipitated quickly. Nose was slightly wheaty but far from aromatic. Overall, rather lifeless.
Flavor was definitely a hefe but as if it had been heavily filtered or put in cold storage for far too long. Just all the heavy hefe tones were muted. Not much in the way of cloves or citrus either. Thin mouthfeel too. I will have to give this beer another shot to see if I just got a bad keg. jcwattsrugger (5573), Florida and, New Jersey, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jul 10, 2007 DRAUGHT AT THE BREWPUB. DRAUGHT because I am way too good to use the word DRAFT because I want to pretend like I am from England. The coloUr is yellow and their is a smell white head on it. The smell is fruity and full of lemons and orange and some other citrus fruits, but its pretty much dominated by those flavors. The flavour is sweet and fruity, full of carbonation, very refreshing. Thank god they did not put an orange slice with this, as I would have gone apeshit. Good beer, this is one of the best breweries in NC. Thanks for keeping the beer fresh and on DRAUGHT. boboski (1095), Alabama, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jul 7, 2007 Draft at FB. Cloudy deep yellow pour, substantial body, looks milky, similar to a Nigori sake. Fluffly white head imparts thick clumpy lacing. The aroma is wheat, banana, light clove, taffy and toffy. Fruity esters abound as well and mask alcohol astringency nicely. The flavor is very muted all around, banana and clove, along with wheat all very subtle. That’s a shame, it started off nicely, i wish it were a little more expressive. It is balanced however, with mild sweetness, light tart bitterness and low acidity. The finish is lightly drying, banana and wheat malt notes lingering a short while. Not very crisp but still rather refreshing. The mouthfeel is soft, light-medium bodied and prickly with carbonation. Average. What bothers me about this average score is the fact that the brewer is incredibly talented; I hope this recipe is tweaked in the future. It’s just too reserved and/or sedated. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jun 8, 2007 Pours a hazy yellow color with a nice white head. I immediately pick up a banana taffy smell when I put my nose to this one but there are some citrus qualities as well. Sure enough both of those things come through in the flavor but it’s pretty reserved. Lively carbonation gives this one a bit of a seltzer quality at the finish. | 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jun 2, 2007 Draught. Hazy yellow/gold with a respectable head and lace. Fragrant ditrus aroma with a hint of banana and clove, but not to the extent of a German hefe. Fine, lively effervescence complement a light body, but mouthfeel is a little thin, but clean. Subdued light malt flavors, and a faint sourness are pleasing enough, with some fleeting dry bitterness right at the end. Drinkable, refreshing, but just a little too restrained. | 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | May 25, 2007 On tap at the brewery. Interesting Hefe. Very pronounced citrus flavors with a hint of clove on the finish. NachlamSie (1649), Tennessee, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | May 24, 2007 Draught. Pours a cloudy gold with a small white head. The nose is tame with evident wheat and citrus. The flavor is light and not that sweet. Notes of banana, cereal, light creamed corn are present. The finish hints at spices. This is drinkable but not on the level of many of its authentic German counterparts.
