boboski (1095), USA Jul 7, 2007 Draft at FB. Sampled just after the brewpub opened. Golden pour with a cavernous white head. Good retention, light lacing. The nose is grassy hops, light toasted grains, acidic citrus and onion, all in an earthy blend. No flaws noted, though it’s rather uninteresting. The flavor is mildly to moderately bitter, lightly sweet, witn notable soft acidity. Grapefruit notes creep forth and gain momentum with each sip. The finish is medium dry, acidic and resinous. Mouthfeel is light-medium bodied, well carbonated. bboven (103), Greensboro, North Carolina, USA May 18, 2007 This one i almost too bitter, not enough malt to balance it out. It’s a pretty standard IPA other than that. Very good. 19641948 (492), Greensboro, North Carolina, USA Sep 16, 2006 From notes 6/9/05:
Pours a very light, almost diluted, golden copper. Creamy white head with divots and pockmarks and craters plopping away. Thin loose lacing. Aromas too were mild. An herbal hop nose to it. Nothing too juicy or outrageous. Herbal, almost leafy. No real "wow factor" with this aroma. Flavors had a decent malt base, a touch bready. Hop nature was mild, with some subtle notes of iced tea. Mouthfeel was adequate, nothing to write home about. Drinkable, sure. I attempted to get a growler home with me to give this another chance, and a more dissected observations over another pint or four, but still no growlers available. Sigh... I looked forward to this beer after enjoying the pale ale so much. Seems the pale ale still retains its hold as my favorite Foothills beer. I guess my unbridled IPA anticipation didn’t equal the final result. A good beer, but not one that leaves a permanent positive mark on your psyche.
General_Gao (2573), Iowa City, Iowa, USA Jan 14, 2006 Draught at the brewpub. Clear orange color with thin white head that laced the glass. Flowery, spruce hop nose and flavor. The hops are well balanced with the malt. Crisp, bitter finish. Excellent IPA. masedawg (149), Statesville, North Carolina, USA Nov 19, 2005 Dark red/amber color. Aroma and taste are full of grapefruit, and really leave that impression on your taste buds in the finish. Definitely an interesting brew.
