| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 5/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Sep 27, 2007 Sampled at Ashville Brewfest. This was a beautiful copper red color, with a nice rocky little head and decent toasty aromas. The flavor was very nutty, and the malt came through pretty nice, but the overall effect and the palate were rather thin and didn’t have the usual smooth, rich body of an Oktoberfest. Smell: Earthy malt aroma with subtle spicing and a hint of apple.
Taste: More of the earthy maltiness with a touch of caramel sweetness. A touch of spice. That hint of apple rears up from time to time. with a bit of hop bitterness appearing near the drying finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation.
Drinkability: A pretty good Carolinan Oktoberfest. Suttree (2723), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Sep 24, 2007 Clear copper, nice off-white head. Aroma is spicy with some sweet notes - vaguely fruity. Flavor is sweet at first, the a surprisingly crisp ever-so-slightly bitter finish. Nicely quaffable. Sampled at Asheville Brewgrass 2007. NachlamSie (1637), Tennessee, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Sep 23, 2007 Draught. Pours a crystalline dark orange with a whitish head. The nose is bursting of toffee and apples with hints of European hops. Mouthfeel is only slightly sticky. It’s a slightly tart Oktoberfest with a pleasant, subtle hop character. This is not my favorite style, but this one was all right. freekyp (900), Thomasville, North Carolina, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Sep 10, 2007 Rich and malty with a slight hoppiness in the finish, this is a fine example of the style. Clear amber with a subdued carbonation, this is a brew with a firm hand, but emminent drinkability. Nicely balanced with a long malty finish. Hops lend a mild spiciness to the aftertaste. Another winner from Foothills! ucusty (1887), Wake Forest, North Carolina, USA
