This one poured a dark brown color with a thin tan head that left a little lacing. The aroma was of dark chocolate, toasted malts, and big roasty smells. The flavor is full of roastiness and toasted malts along with some dark chocolate. The medium body lends to a smooth finish that is roasty and bitter. Pretty good job with this one, but just a touch too sweet. JMFG (1514), Florida, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 14, 2008 Sampled from growler courtesy DragonStout. Dark chestnut brown with a light tan head that disappears quickly. Nice heavy chocolate-cocoa-roast combonation, very smooth and subtle. Taste is mildly bitter and roasty with sweetness and nuttiness coming in on the finish. The roast and sweet kind of compete here, but still tasty. OldGrowth (1425), North Carolina, USA
