| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Feb 6, 2008 At bp. Deep amber/brownish pour with gooey white head. Rich sweet malt nose. Rich malt flavor with a very good finishing bitter, mild but lasting. Just a tad thin and carbonation is just a tad fizzy but not bad. Solid ESB with good flavor a crisp clean drinker. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Feb 2, 2008 Pours a transparent dark copper amber with a stringy-lacing off-white head. Aroma of toasty nutty pale malt and some English hops. Starts semi-sweet and toasty with a bigger bittering hop presence taking over near the finish. Has some mild earthy grapefruity character as well. Pretty true to style and drinkable. MartinT (5075), Montreal, Quebec, Canada
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 14, 2008 My Bottom Line:
Wooden hoppiness is carefully inserted into the toasted bread maltiness in this balanced and well-fed ESB.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A veil of foam covers the clear copper, drawing decent lacing.
-Light caramel maltiness is found, but it barely creates more complexity.
-The finishing wooden, leafy hop bitterness is polite.
-This is very clean and well crafted, but in the end it remains somewhat forgettable.
-If this is one of their lowest rated beers, I can’t wait to try all of the other ones!
