An amber beer with a thin beige head. The aroma is sweet malty with a light touch of caramel. The flavor is sweet with notes of caramel and a crisp hoppiness, the hops also lends it a light note of grapefruit.

Pours a transparent dark copper amber with a stringy-lacing off-white head. Aroma of toasty nutty pale malt and some English hops. Starts semi-sweet and toasty with a bigger bittering hop presence taking over near the finish. Has some mild earthy grapefruity character as well. Pretty true to style and drinkable.

My Bottom Line:
Wooden hoppiness is carefully inserted into the toasted bread maltiness in this balanced and well-fed ESB.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A veil of foam covers the clear copper, drawing decent lacing.
-Light caramel maltiness is found, but it barely creates more complexity.
-The finishing wooden, leafy hop bitterness is polite.
-This is very clean and well crafted, but in the end it remains somewhat forgettable.
-If this is one of their lowest rated beers, I can’t wait to try all of the other ones!

On tap at The Flying Saucer in Charlotte.

Sampled at Arg0’s Pre-RBSG Tasting at his pad: Amber, caramel color, off-white head and light lacing. Nose of caramel, light malt, some light earthy hops. The flavor is sweet, ah, average. Thin mouthfeel. Nice finish. Thanks Chris_o!

On tap at the brewpub. Light red with a thin head. Aroma is fruity esters, good English malt and yeast character with an herbal tea and slightly flowery hop presence. light caramel and toasted malts, moderate sweetness and a nice fruity ester profile- slight tea-like hops, and a clean finish. Got a bit boring though as it warmed and thinned out a bit. Meh.
