TURDFERGUSON (1594), Carrboro, North Carolina, USA Nov 8, 2006 On Tap at Tyler’s of Carrboro. Earthy, grapfruitty hops dominate the nose. Appearence is rather disappointing: cloudy orange-amber with no head, this beer looks flat. Citrusy hops, predominantly grapefruit dominate the flavor that leave your tongue loving and hating its job at the same time. A very nice double ipa (and its from NC!). I hope Foothills starts bottling soon. Veeve (312), Winston-Salem, North Carolina, USA Oct 15, 2006 I can’t tell you enough how much I LOVE this beer. to sip slowly and enjoy, too F&%$ you up in a pint-minute, to drink more than one as your beer of choice for the night. mmm, mmm, good! yes! Beautiful solid colored sunset golden tan brown, orange and pink-amber hue with little to no white head that dissipates quickly and fails to lace. wonderful pine, grapefruit, citrus and light hop aroma. Solid mouthfeel throughout. Tastes of plentiful hops, grapefruit, orange and other citrus, pine in the background. well balanced bitterness and sweetness with definetely a bready/yeasty undertone. touch of alcohol too. Since I don’t like overly hoppy IPA’s, even though this one packs a hoppy punch, the balance of citrus and sweetness and earthy pine masks and highlights the hoppiness perfectly. drink this one with caution. you’ll want more than one and come back for more and be drunk before you even know it. Immy (1912), Virginia Beach, Virginia, USA Oct 10, 2006 Cask at the Durham World Beer Festival. Golden brown with a small off white head. Grapefruit and pine nose, some caramel malt notes. Orange citrus flavor, sweet with a big bitter bite. Good. BückDich (4793), McCall, Idaho, USA Oct 3, 2006 RBSG 2006 - DC Grand Tasting Lineup
Bronze color, no head or lacing. Nose of bright grapefruit and sweet nutty grapes. The flavor is nice and balanced. Catty bitterness and sweet maltose. The finish is nice and traditional with light lingering malt but a nice hop essence. Bailz316 (221), Mendham, New Jersey, USA Sep 30, 2006 Pours a nice amber with virtually no head. Grapefruit aroma. Citrusy. Some caramel notes. Alcohol masked well. Bitter finish. Very drinkable for such a high alc. brentfeesh (1030), Gadsden, Alabama, USA Sep 26, 2006 Sampled at the 10th annual Brewgrass festival. Pours hazy amber with carbonation and a thin white lasting head. Grassy citrus hops on top of creamy sweet malt. Yum. Wonderful flavor including sweet caramel, citrus hops (orange, peach), pine hops, red candy licorice, and cherry hints. Wow. Great creamy body. Perfect light carbonation for the style. Semi-dry finish. Just wonderful. I did not drink anything other than this for the rest of the day. muenster (339), Sevierville, Tennessee, USA Sep 24, 2006 Updated: Sep 5, 2007Draught at Barley’s in Asheville. Pours orange/amber with a tight, off-white head. Aroma is citrus, grapefruit, and piney hops. Flavor is amazingly hoppy, with a massive grapefruit backdrop,citrus/piney notes, and a warming finish. The hops shine through everything so brightly that this is one of the hoppiest beers I have had yet. A very full mouthfeel as well. Ungstrup (14754), Frederiksberg, Denmark Sep 16, 2006 An unclear orange beer with an orange head. The aroma is sweet with notes of grapefruit and hops. The flavor is sweet with notes of grapefruit, oranges, and lots of hops, so You can sense the alfa acids, and it finishes off with a slight alcohol burn.
