Commercial Description:
Foothills' first high gravity beer may have you Seeing Double. The hops are balanced with just enough body to craft a highly drinkable brew. Expect a full body and a hint of citrus from the seven varieties of hops added to the brew. IBU: 130.

From notes 10/14/05: Pours a hazy, unfiltered golden orange color. Glowing. Creamy beige head lasts for just a short while and I’m left with a just a thin ring of single-file bubbles around the edge. Lacing is spotty with wet loose conglomerations of foam oozing down the glass. Aromas smack you hard. Juicy citrus and pine. Fantastic scents that blow me away. I find myself sitting there and inhaling deeply for minutes on end before even drinking it. Wow. I love this aroma. Flavors give a good wallop of bitterness to the palate. A bready malt base gives a firm foundation. Layer upon layer of hop cones are built upon that. Citrus, pine, and oils all coat the tongue and peel away a coat of enamel from the teeth. Voracious bitterness lingers. Hop burps are divine. Solid mouthfeel and an intense drinkability for the hophead. 9.5% and 100+ IBU? Sign me up. Great beer.

RBSG 06. Clear amber with small off-white head. The aroma is caramel, pine and citrus. The flavor is piney, fairly dry and bitter. Medium/light body.

Sampled at RBSG 2006- Grand Tasting. Interesting beer in that it pours Clemson orange in color. Aroma is quite pleasant with a strong hop oil content. Taste is a blend of sweet and tartness. Unfortunately, the sweetness continues to dominate and leaves the beer a bit out of whack. Really quite good otherwise.

This is one big hoppy motherfucker of a beer. Pours an orange color with a thin little white head. Strong grapefruit aroma with a piney background. Strong citrusy flavor with a noticeable but not unpleasant alcohol finish. Made me think of tangerines and christmas trees. Big tasting beer.

RBSG 2006, Grand Tasting. Clear copper with a white head. Tropical fruits and pine in the nose, very nice. Flavor has notes of caramel, more tropical fruit character and peppery/piney hops. Pleasant sweetness with ample bitterness and an alcohol zing at the end. Medium bodied, perhaps a bit thin for the style with moderate carbonation. Overall good stuff.

RBSG ’06 Growler. Orange beer with a creamy off white head. Very smooth mouthfeel. Lots of bready malts supporting the massive hops. Pineapple, grapefruit, orange zest, but all well balanced for being sooo hoppy. Very nice beer.

Growler at RBSG 2006. Rusty amber. Nose is hoppy, fruity and sweet. Laden with caramel. Taste is chewy, sweet malts, caramel, hops, citrus notes and a touch of pine. Body is thick and chewy but creamy. Finishes with more citrus and caramel. Nice!

Draft at WBF Raleigh on 5/2/09. Just an update as I didn’t realize I had rated this already! My friend and I both got samples of this and we both picked up some "oddities" at the fest. We both got mint/herbal notes, tropical fruit and even a hint of coconut on top of our hops, caramel, and pine. We thought it odd but thought it tasty as well and different which is definitely what I like.
