Commercial Description:
Foothills' first high gravity beer may have you Seeing Double. The hops are balanced with just enough body to craft a highly drinkable brew. Expect a full body and a hint of citrus from the seven varieties of hops added to the brew. IBU: 130.

Bottle. Blind tasting. A amber beer with a off-white head. The aroma and taste is of malt and hops, peach, mellon notes, dry. Medium to full body with a bitter dry, hoppy finish.

On tap at Foothills. Fantastic IIPA. From color, to aroma, taste and mouthfeel, this is a complex and aggresive beer. Color is a bright orange/light copper. Aroma is of big hops, candied apricots and just a hint of alcohol sweetness. The nostrils tingle. Flavor is big caramel sweetness, with big hop flavor. The finish is sticky, smacky sweet with plenty of bitterness to clean it up and a dry enough finish emerges. This is by no means a balanced beer at this stage in it’s young life, despite mention of big malt to back up the huge hops. This is a monster, in-your-face IIPA. Centennial, Warrior, Columbus, Simcoe and other friends all make an appearance. I’d actually like to see how this one ages in a growler. The beer is unfiltered and the 1 year old Sexual Chocolate I had out of a growler a couple months back could not have been more spot on. They’ve got some amazing guys doing work down there in Winston.

On tap at the brewery. A hazy amber color with a small off-white creamy head. Lasts for a good while. The nose is a peach tea citrus antiseptic aroma. Really exceptionally well-balanced. Has a tea and citrus hop flavor. A lot of solid malt backbone; caramel, brown sugar, with some peach and mango. A rich body with a thick creamy mouthfeel.

Draft at Flying Saucer Raleigh. Bright red color. Thick head with excellent lacing and retention. Straightforward citrus hop aroma. Big hop and big malt in the taste, but they don’t meld well and it seems off balance. Still pretty drinkable. 6/5/7/3/13
< br>Rerate. Served on draft at the brewery. Pours a hazy peach color with a large head. Good head retention and lacing. Aroma of citrus and pineapple. Taste is extremely bitter with resin, pine, citrus and sweet malt notes. Full bodied. 7/3/8/4/14

(Handbottle 65 cl) Courtesy of BrianK. Clear, amber golden with a creamy, off-white head leaving some lacework. Fat, sweetish aroma of malt and peachy hops. Quite full-bodied, very sweet caramel and a fairly bitter finish. A bit too much on the sweet side. 190408

Foothills Seeing Double IPA # 31 Bottle. [Papsoe’s great blind tasting, thanks Henrik!] Average bubbly off-white head that mostly diminished. Fair display of lacework. Clear flat looking body with an amber color. Aroma of pine, grapefruit, citrus, underlying malty sweetness. Over the palate came heavy hoppy feel with some fruity and apricot. Full bodied with an average carbonation and very dry, mild alcoholic texture. Moderated bitter and light sweet flavor. Dry and bitter hoppy finish. 7-3-8-4-16 = 3.8 19-04-2008
