Commercial Description:
Foothills' first high gravity beer may have you Seeing Double. The hops are balanced with just enough body to craft a highly drinkable brew. Expect a full body and a hint of citrus from the seven varieties of hops added to the brew. IBU: 130.

On Tap at Watts Grocery. Orange pour with light orange head. Very nice appearance. Orange-y citrus and slight bitterness. Hops are relatively mild for a double IPA. Very solid overall, if a little different than expected. Looking forward to trying again.

Growler at RBSG ’06. Clear, dark amber with a small off white head. Piney hop aroma that is balanced with sweet malty notes. Flavor of pine and citrus hops with a bit of caramel malt. A bit of chalkiness on the finish took a little away from the beer but overall quite tasty.

Draught at the brewpub 3/24/06: Hazy amber-red body with a medium, thick white head that lasts all the way through the beer and shows nice lacing around the glass. The aroma is strong citrus hops, floral hops, and grass hops. Also I think I detected some notes of hop. Flavors begins with strong bitter grassy hops, then moves on to lemon rind, orange, grapefruit rind, spicy hops, and stays bitter the entire way through. This one certainly features hops all the way through and I enjoyed the complex citrus & fruit flavors throughout. Medium bodied, medium carbonated, feeling a bit sticky and full in the mouth. Very nice IIPA here.

Tap at some bar in Durham.

Not nearly the standout that the Total Eclipse stout was, this is a rather run-of-the-mill IIPA, fruity, grapefruit pith, a bit sweet. Alright.

Thanks kiefdog for sharing the growler. Very enjoyable IIPA. Pours a transparent amber with a white head. Nose is lots of caramel malt with a piney curtain over the peach and citrus notes. Flavor is very piney with big malt backbone. Overall a ton of malt and a balanced pine and citrus attack. Very enjoyable.

On draught at WBF in Raleigh. Nice lacy head, golden-copper color with a slight haze. Aroma is very attractive--hoppy and citrus with a good bit of malt as well. Flavor is similar, very smooth, with a slight alcohol burn. Very good, and the best beer at the WBF I went to.

Shared by sliffy. Dark and murky chestnut body. The aroma is a combination of candy caramel and cintrus hops--very nice. The mouthfeel is thick and syrupy--but not medicinal. The flavor is definitely sweet, plenty of caramel malt presence for sure. The hops are very bitter tastewise, but do not overpower the rest of the beer. Very good stuff.

Poured from a growler procured by DoBoy at Foothills yesterday. Clear coppery brown body under a medium, creamy, yellowish beige head, decent lace. Spruce and grapefruit skin up front in the aroma, dark toffee and a hint of fruitiness follow. Smooth and slightly viscous, medium to full body and light carbonation, resinous. Lots of malty sweetness that needs the abundance of peppery hop bitterness that builds quickly. Finishes dry with a lingering tangy grapefruit zest. A solid DIPA with lots of character.
