Commercial Description:
Foothills' first high gravity beer may have you Seeing Double. The hops are balanced with just enough body to craft a highly drinkable brew. Expect a full body and a hint of citrus from the seven varieties of hops added to the brew. IBU: 130.

Growler: The aroma is very fruity with notes of orange, pineapple, caramel, and faint pine. It pours a dark amber with a touch of haze and a small off-white head that quickly fades to a ring around the edges of the glass. The flavor starts with a moderate dose of caramel with some hints of oranges. It finishes moderately bitter with notes of pine and some grapefruit. The caramel seems to build into the finish as well. Moderate piny aftertaste lingers for a while. Medium-full bodied with mild carbonation and a slight syrupy mouth feel.

Appearance: Pours a highly appealing, radiant golden-orange color. The bulky, creamy white head leaves plenty of lace on the way down. Smell: The pungent smell of this brew really packs a wallop! The aroma is quite fragrant, showcasing a juicy endless array of zesty citrus and pine scents. Taste: The colossal malt base is more than a match for the monster hop flavors. It’s like Malthra and Hopzilla duking it out in my mouth for palate supremacy. I dare say this one’s a tie! The rich caramal malt flavor is splendid, as is the robust lemon and pineapple hop flavor it balances. Mouthfeel: Medium-full body with a mild carbonation and oh-so creamy. Drinkability: Incredibly drinkable. I went back for seconds! No joke!

On tap at The Bier Garden, Asheville. Nice sugary-sweet and hoppy aroma to this one, with apricots and resin, and also a bit of bitter metallic funk. Deep amber-orange with some haze, topped with an off-white lacing creamy head. Heavy body with mdium smooth carbonation, quite a mouthful, with a light alcohol warming. Starts with an initial burst of brown sugar and big grapefruity hops. After this, the malty sweetness takes over and would be cloying but for the big bitter hop finish that segways into a medium bittersweet after. A bit of alcohol, too. Decent DIPA, but a bit hevy handed in the finish.

Growler, sampled at the 1st Annual Shenandoah Beer Throwdown, courtesy of TURDFERGUSON. Thanks, Sam! Pours a hazy, orange-amber color; light off-white head with patchy lacing. Solid amounts of orange and citrus hops in the aroma; resiny, fresh, and crisp overall; generous nose. Medium-to-full mouthfeel: chewy, resiny hoppiness upfront (earthiness, oranges, and citrus); some sweet candy sugar and biscuity malts; very generous, resiny, dripping hop character; excellent double IPA. Lengthy finish: tongue-numbing bitterness, oranges, citrus, and mineral zestiness; lots and lots of well-represented hops.

I had this on tap at the Atlanta Cask Ale Festival, one of the only breweries from out of state fielding a beer. Good balance of malt and hops, which again have a good orange character and come with a slight tingling bitterness.

Draft at Flying Saucer Raleigh. Bright red color. Thick head with excellent lacing and retention. Straightforward citrus hop aroma. Big hop and big malt in the taste, but they don’t meld well and it seems off balance. Still pretty drinkable. 6/5/7/3/13
< br>Rerate. Served on draft at the brewery. Pours a hazy peach color with a large head. Good head retention and lacing. Aroma of citrus and pineapple. Taste is extremely bitter with resin, pine, citrus and sweet malt notes. Full bodied. 7/3/8/4/14
