Pour an almost amber with a decent off white head and a nice lacing down the glass. A really nice piney hops aroma with a hint of malt. A sweet malt flavor with a hint of citrus and plenty of hops that give it an excellent bitter finish. A very well balanced beer. Very tasty indeed. bboven (103), Greensboro, North Carolina, USA

Hadn’t heard of this one before trying it, but was pleasantly surprised. Great hoppy flavor, not overpowering for the style. Didn’t realize the high alcohol content while drinking. A dangerously smooth double. lb4lb (2011), Austin, Texas, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Jan 21, 2009 Growler in trade from ROBORB. Thanks for getting me this one! Pours a rich, hazy deep orange color with a long lived beige head that leaves a bit of lacing. Smell is creamy, earthy hops with some sticky caramel and toffee like sweetness. There definitely is some sweet and lighty hoppy citrus notes in there too. Not quite as hoppy as I expected, but enough to please. Taste is pretty smooth for a double IPA. Creamy caramel and toasty malt along with earthy, and slightly fruity hops with slightly creamy and bitter orange flavor. Really, pretty balanced and full bodied. Sticky, and a bit rich with normal to perhaps slightly soft carbonation. A bit more malty than many of my favorite DIPAs, but this goes down extremely easily and is quite enjoyable. No problem getting through most of a growler by myself, which is a rarity for me. Thanks again!! ElGaucho56 (393), USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Feb 17, 2008 On tap @ Barleys, Asheville. Pours a slightly cloudy orange with dense, lingering white head. Lovely lacing down the side of the glass. Crazy amounts of hop aroma, ranging from grassy to leafy to citric to medicinal. On the palate the beer is so citrusy as to seem to be mixed with a navel orange. And then of course there’s the sticky, resiny, long bitter finish that tingles on the tongue for minutes after. If you can’t tell, I enjoyed this one immensely. Bigsilky (322), Charleston, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Feb 21, 2006 Had this guy last night. Seems like a happy medium between 90 minute and Double Hercules. Not quite as fragrant as Dogfish, but this beer certainly has the complex malty background that it sports. From the nose I expected a syrupy monster, the bitterness keeps it in check through the entire palate. Not as hoppy as it could be, but that’s a good thing. I certainly see the cotton candy and I’m glad this beer sperates itself from other DIPAs. This beer is worth your time, please Foothills, bottle soon. sliffy (2012), Columbus, Ohio, USA

Aroma, citrus and earthy hops abound with some caramel and pale malts. Flavor, juicy citrus hop notes, with some caramel malts, and a nice underlying sweetness, a pretty solid bit of bitterness comes through on the end. Medium bodied, very easy drinking. Great stuff. illinismitty (1800), Nashville, Tennessee, USA
