Commercial Description:
Foothills' first high gravity beer may have you Seeing Double. The hops are balanced with just enough body to craft a highly drinkable brew. Expect a full body and a hint of citrus from the seven varieties of hops added to the brew. IBU: 130.

Poured at 2009 GABF, Saturday session. Pours an attractive gold-orange, with a small cream colored head. Aroma is all citrus and sweeter fruits (mainly orange, pinneaple). Body is medium-light with medium attenuation, very creamy-smooth. Flavors come out with a hop tang to them, rounding appropriately with a faint malt sweetness. Freshness of the hops is so important to this beer.

From a growler. Copper in color with a thin wispy head. Aroma of candy sugars and spruce trees. More of a balanced DIPA. Sweet caramel malts and some piney and citrus hops. Slick syrupy feeling. Very drinkable. Another fine beer from Foothills.

tap - asheville bier garden

hazy orange color with a thick white head. Big floral citrus aroma. Smooth, round full mouth feel with excellent carbonation. Huge hop flavor, leaning towards astringent bitterness, but also good amounts of fresh hop juciness. Flavors were floral with strong resiny sap notes. Long (long) lasting bitterness. Best NC beer I’ve had.

Sampled from a 5 gallon keg (courtesy of boboski) at kp’s on 7/2/06: Pours a clear orange copper with a nicely-lacing white head. Big, fresh piny hoppy aroma has a nice, clean balanced caramel maltiness. Starts with a good sweet sticky caramel malty palate and lots of fresh piny hoppy flavor. Nicely-balanced and fresh with plenty of green hops and mild citrus with a lightly warming finish. A nice double IPA.

Cloudy orange brown, with a decent sized beige head. Big citrus and black pepper aroma. Very smooth, with a nice piney flavor up front and a viscous, malty finish. Draft at Barley’s, Asheville.

Growler, sampled at the 1st Annual Shenandoah Beer Throwdown, courtesy of TURDFERGUSON. Thanks, Sam! Nice appearance- mostly clear fruity deep prangey amber with a nice tacky tight white head. Aroma is amarillo hops- porangey citrus with some cat piss and a moderate sweet malt backbone. Lots of bitter hops in the flavor alogn with more citrus and especially grapefruit and some pine needle - and sap- sticky tacky and bitter finish with more cattiness. Nice DIPA.

Huge thanks to Jason "Boboski" for bringing the keg and tap handle to match. Clear amber color with a medium off-white head. Big grapefruit aroma and flavor. Sweet malt. Hop bitterness that keeps growing. the finish is lightly sweet. Very warming and tastey. I had three glasses for the road before I left. I also had a DD so not a problem.
