Bottle courtesy of Wayne Wambles, the wonderfull brewer that Cigar City Brewing acquired from Foothills. What a great score for Tampa. Pours black with a one finger tan head that leaves good lacing. Big aroma of roasted malt, chocolate, coffee, caramel, and slightly burnt sugar. Taste is the same as aroma. Medium full mouthfeel with a moderate amount of bitterness and smooth alcohol. A very fine brew.

Pours black with a nice mocha head. Aroma of chocolate, cofee, roasted malts. Taste is the same with some molasses and a touch of tobacco. Slight bitterness from the chocolate Very nice balanced mix of all of the flavors. Nothing overpowers. "SEXUAL CHOCOLATE!" *drops mic and walks off stage*

One of the many bottles chilled in our bathtub at GABF 2007. The pour and the head remind me of Goose Island Bourbon County Stout; fully dissipating after that. The flavor disappointed. If it’s going to be called Sexual Chocolate, it needs more chocolate, and needs more decadence. There are residual sugars here that are not integrated into the malty and sweet base, which is also nicely winey in its fruit character. The end is hoppy and bitter, which is a nice counterpoint. Still, it didn’t live up to expectation.

Bottle. @ the Horse school WSF-08 afterparty in Opstal.
Dark black color with a average to large, frothy, good lancing, mostly diminishing, light brown head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, chocolate, dark fruits, chilli notes. Very complex. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration. Body is medium to full, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. Very very nice ;o)) This is very good stuff. (240508)

Bottle 489/500 from OldGrowth, and boy, this thing lived up to all expectations, wow! Pour was dark black in color, some brown hues to it, but pretty much pretty pitch black, great chocolate colored head, very generous, hard to split the bottle into 2 x 250ml glasses, but successfully done. The lacing was decent too. The aroma was chocolate with some faint roast. The flavor was far more impressive, a great blend of chocolate and slightly resinous hops, very well balanced, amply carbonated to make this very drinkable and nothing sticky-like. The roast elements were great, adding a light bitterness to the experience. A fantastic choco-hopped impy, as good as can be done without more heavily emphasizing (ala Speedway) the coffee approach. Thanks so much, Tom, great body and carbonated body, really nice stuff. (And, I’m always skeptical of what the "locals" can make of a brew like this.... not in this case, lives up to the hype!

22 oz. bottle courtesy of a trade with TheBeerCellar. Pours a dense black with a moderate-large chocolate brown head that lasted until mid-glass and left lots of sticky lace. Very pleasant aroma of chocolate liqueur, roasted malt and a bit of coffee. Nice strong cocoa flavor along with roasted malt and some very light coffee. Light to moderate bitterness at the finish and slightly dry. Full bodied. This is a very enjoyable beer.

22 oz bottle, via CaptainCougar. Pours a beautiful pitch black body with a delicious looking creamy dense espresso brown head that had very good retention for a 10% ABV beer. Fairly standard Impy nose with a bit more chocolate than most. Some roasted nuts and a minimal touch of alcohol. Pretty sweet up front, lots of slightly burnt toffee, molasses, bakers chocolate, cocoa powder, even some plumy fruit. Finishes with a touch more bitterness, burnt toast, coffee, caramel. The alcohol is noticable, but with the big sweetness it’s hidden pretty well. Full bodied and just a touch cloying on the back end, I wish the carbonation was a little less fizzy and prickly. Overall, a pretty nice beer, not among the favorites of the style for me but it’s certainly solid.
