A unique chocolate stout. This is like some kids imaginative dream of what a truly dark stout can live up to. Bottles sold out the first day they were available. I’ll keep dropping by the brewery for pulls till they run dry. There simply isn’t another chocolate stout that runs in this class.

Pours black with a big thick tan and frothy head. This brew is big and bold, powerful in every way. Tastes like chocolate, molasses, and toffee. Hint of coffee on the after taste. Very very creamy, and with no real hint of the 10% alcohol in it. Just incredibly solid all around. Every time you smell or taste it, you get a different combination of aroma and flavors, this beer is ever changing. No two sips are quite the same, but they are all delicious. Maybe the perfect chocolate beer. I’d still take Young’s over this one, but by a very thin margin. Foothills needs to release this one in a lot more than just 500 bottles next year. Blind Imperial Stout Tasting. Black body with a tiny tan head. The nose is heavy with green apple, chocolate, roast and molasses. The flavor is moderately sweet, very little bitterness with acidic coffee, green apple and roast. Medium/full body is thinnish with moderate carbonation. Just a mess of a beer.

Thanks go out to a few people that got me bottles. Pour is black with a decent brown head. Smells of milk chocolate, bitter coco and roasty malt. Flavor of bitter chocolate. Dry and somewhat f a tart finish. Full bodied and creamy.

[Bottle--huge thank you, Eben, for saving some of this for me!] Pours black with a dark tan head. Aroma is light toasted malt, cocoa, very light alcohol, a small bit of sweetness at times that I think was brown sugar, and something that tasted a little like hazelnut. The taste was sweet up front, then the toasted malt and cocoa took over before a deeper charred taste and chocolate finish. Medium mouthfeel and slightly dry on the tongue. The finish was quite long. A very enjoyable beer, but I don’t think it can stand up to many imperial stouts that I have had.

Sampled at Cellar’s Wine & Spirits in St Paul, Minnesota and shared by Stine. From a 22-oz bomber (bottle 370/500) pours an opaque dark brown brew with a fast dissolving brown head that dissipates to a thin light tan ring and film top. Aroma of roasted dark malt, plenty of dark rich chocolate, dark cherries, and a touch of molasses. Taste is quite smooth, full bodied, with flavors of mostly dark chocolate, dark pitted fruits, some roasted dark malt, light flowery hops, a touch of candi sugar. Finish remains the dark chocolate aftertaste flavor with a flowery hop and dark malt character that lingers after the finish. Best brew of the evening.

Beer 3 of Officially the Best Thursday in Beer ever in the existence of my life. Bomber brought by Deftim13 and Tim you are so super awesome setting up a mini Imperial Stout tasting it was pretty damn awesome and as I said I owe you dude. Pours black with a big 2 finger light brown head. Nose is light and roasty and pretty tasty. Its certainly tasty and the taste is nice and chocolaty, but as Tim says it is pretty 1 dimensional. Its chewy chocolaty and pretty much great on that dimension but lack anything else in its taste its good, but I kinda think that Santa’s little helper from PP is better.

Black pour, faint beige head. Aroma is chocolate, straight hersheys. Flavor is dry, chocolate, some espresso. Hoppy aftertaste, citrus hops, creamy yet bitter. Bittersweet chocolate, some caramel and a bit more coffee. Dry mouthfeel, bitter coffee, hoppy and a little chalky aftertaste.It’s good but I’m glad I didn’t buy into the hype, nothing seperates this from other imperial stouts.
