Strange nose: chalky cherry, milky cough syrup and chocolate, with some woody notes, but it doesn’t really smell that good. A mix of minerally chocolate and artificial cherry flavoring. Flavor is decent enough, but it’s a bit too ashy and stale on the tongue. Frothy texture, moderately rich chocolate noticed, but a bit thin, stale, ashy, etc. Not that great overall. I guessed it was Nogne-O Imperial Stout, and was surprised to find it was the Sexual Chocolate. One of the biggest surprises of the night. It was in an overall poor flight of other stouts, so it wasn’t rated low based on others in the flight being well-liked... it was just a poor showing by this beer.

Draft sample @ Savor DC
Heavily astringent roast and overhopped bitterness make a mess of what would otherwise be a nicely thick, viscous imperial stout. Has a bit of a lactic flavor, but the real detriment is the high astringency.

Foothills sure hit the mark here; part gimmick, part quality and part limited release. I thought that it was a very good beer, but not exceptional beer. Poured a black with a very thin brown head. Aroma was of roasted malt and chocolate. Flavor had a good amount of chocolate to it, but it was not a dominating presence. Also roasted malt, molasses/toffee and sweetness. Decent hop finish. Enjoyed it, but fairly certain that if it had a wider release, it would surely not be in the top 50. That being said, Foothills deserves all the recognition they are getting. killedge (26), Miami, Florida, USA

| 4.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 19/20 | Feb 3, 2008 Opaque in color with a finger sized dark brown head that holds it’s shape well. Smells of black molassas and chocolate. The flavor is of rich dark chocolate, roasted malts, molassas and licorice. Thick mouthfeel but silky smooth. This is only the second beer that stained the glass after it was empty. The other being Dark Lord. Way to easy to drink as the abv is not noticable. Had on-tap at the release. wickedpete (629), Lexington Park, Maryland, USA

Sweet, chocolate, and licorice aroma. Chocolate brownie flavor backed up by a slight roast character and bitter finish. Quite thick and chewy. I wish I could drink this all the time.
