Bottle excavated and dragged home by a trained weasel belonging to one Mr. Nbutler11. Appearance is a very bold red-brown and the head is very fluffy, tan, and stalwart. My thoughts on the aroma and flavor are the same: they each carry a very thick figate (fig-date) quality that is melded with a masterfully rich dark cocoa brownie flavor. The combination is outstanding, but as the dark fruit lacks tartness or spiciness, the chocolate/fruit can only combine with each other, not enhance. Reminds me very much of Dark Sky, only thicker and more brownie-like.

Bottle, big ups to ucusty. Aroma of cocoa powder, bitter chocolate, milky chocolate, molasses, rich malt. Flavor has all those notes in addition to lovely currant and dark cherry notes, making for a phenomenal meshing of complexities. Full bodied and smooth. Awesome.

Pours black as night with a medium brown head Smells strongly of a dry dark cocoa powder, light scents of bitter black coffee tastes of a milkier chocolate than the nose gives off, creamy mouthfeel, residual sugars.

Bottle. Pours jet black with a good sized chocolate head with nice lacing. Big chocolate, coffee, toffee and toasted malts with a dash of hops to keep this brew from being too sweet and overbearing with chocolate and coffee. Finish was very creamy and smooth with tons of creamy chocolate goodness.......great stuff.

Bottle, 2009. Pours black with a thick tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, sweet malt, bitter chocolate. Flavor is sweet and malty upfront with a cocoa finish. A bit on the sweet side. Meh, this was a good impy but it certainly wasn’t a great one for me. 7/4/8/4/14 (3.7/5)

2008 Vintage (429 of 500). Bottle generously shared by theisti before we attended "Beer Wars". Pours black with a thin mocha head. Chocolate, roasted malt and a touch of coffee on the nose; simple but nice. Medium to full-bodied with a slick mouthfeel and a mineral finish. Chocolate, dark fruit and chalk with a roasty, fruity and lightly boozy finish. This is a nice beer. Thanks again for sharing it with me, Tim.

Not much of a dark chocolate head that I was hoping for, but has a lovely viscous pour. Very nice head sitting on top that eventually fades away, but still a very nice looking stout. When they say chocolate they mean it, as far as the aroma is concerned. Fairly pungent sweet chocolate aroma. I cannot really say the aroma is nuanced, maybe a little coffee, but definitely chocolate. Nice deep chocolate flavor that follows a very silky palate. Actually, a very smooth palate that is perfect in my opinion. Slight bittering flavor at the end. Very good flavor, not as strong of an aroma as I thought it would be but still fairly pungent.Overall, the name says it all; this beer is focused very much on the chocolate flavor(s). A nice stout, with a slight focus on the bittering part of chocolate at the end.
