It produced a finger worth of tan head. That went to a slight ring of tan bubbles around the glass the body was a classic black stout color.
The aromas of dark chocolate coffee and some molasses filled my head. The more it warms the more the sweet molasses comes through with the chocolate
The flavor is very sweet the molasses is dominant as well in the taste. Nice chocolate notes as well as a slight coffee bitter. No carbonation but thick in the mouth so it is right where I like my stouts to be in the mouthfeel department.
This is a great stout, great chocolate flavor with enough sweetness in it to keep it interesting. I am truly enjoying this bomber while sipping this last glass. A must try to any stout lover; I know I grab another one in the future.

Aroma is totally chocolate and roasted malt. Flavor has some roasted malt, a bit of tartness and some good chocolate notes. A very good beer. But not quite what I expected. ctquade (1), Burke, Virginia, USA does not count | 4.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 19/20 | Mar 7, 2009 Fantastic aroma, color. Brown head hints of intense flavor, with just a hint of chocolate. Not too much!! High alcohol evident in slight whiskey notes. A top beer. jsh12bama (337), Alabama, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 5, 2009 In short: A roasted cacao-chocolaty imperial stout. Well done, slightly above average for the style
How: Tap at Boston Extreme Beer Fest 2009
The look: Black body topped by a small tan head
In long: Nose is typical for the style, roasted malts and cacao. Taste is good but is nothing special either. Roasted malts and a black chocolate bar (the type with very high cacao %). The roastiness and cacao/floury create a mouth drying astringency. Alcohol is apparent which is usually not the case for chocolaty imperial stouts. Carbonation is a bit too aggressive. The beer is not round or rich like the best chocolate stouts (i.e. Southern Tier Choklat). All in all As far as chocolaty imperial stouts are concerned this is good but far from excellent. I’ll take a $2 Brooklyn Chocolate anytime over this one. I really don’t understand the hype on this beer. They say that chocolate lowers a woman inhibition. Getting drunk does that too. Buy chocolate stouts and double your chances to score. Mdgutows (42), Charlotte, North Carolina, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Feb 28, 2009 Updated: Mar 2, 2009I had some 08’ on draft at The Flying Saucer in Charlotte. Impenetrable black with a fluffy brown head. Aromas are intense chocolate, some coffee, roasted malts, sugars, and some fruitiness coming through as well. Palate is so smooth and rich with a light carbonation and an amazing chocolate flavor. Other flavors consist of roasted malt, dark fruit, a touch of sweetness, some alcoholic notes, and slight hop bite as it goes down. This beer was an absolute pleasure all the way around. A must try. By the way my friend got the ’09 and we both preferred the ’08. wilkie (1191), Raleigh, North Carolina, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Feb 26, 2009 Finally!!! Bottle shared by a friend. A much better friend NOW!! Pours black, medium tan head, lacing. Aroma is nutty--almond or hazelnut, not sure--vanilla, cream, nice dose of roasted malts, alcohol in nose. Flavor is strong vanilla (this dissipates some over the course of a pint), coffee, chocolate, caramel. Very sweet. Smooth. Alcohol present in flavor, but not as much as the ABV would suggest. kegbear (269), Orange, California, USA

Bitter chocolate and coffee aroma. Tastes of chocolate, roasted coffee, caramel and dark fruits. Not too sweet with a semi dry finish. Excellent overall.
