Tap in some NC bar.

Pours gorgeous dark as night; big dark chocolate aroma; man this beer rocks. Absolutely massive flavor, roasty mocha, enough vinous fruit to make things really interesting, great chocolate without any of hershey’s syrup trap. I can see why the Foothills Impy is such a hot commodity. Impressed!

growler from iowaherkeye. Black pour with a thin tan head. Huge chocolate aroma. Flavor was bitter chocolate, cola, caramel, black malts. Lightly bitter finish.

Draft. Surprisingly good. Super rich flavor that makes guiness taste like water. Lightly dry malt flavor of chocolate and roasted malts. Light carbonation and highly drinkable. Creamy, smooth, and full bodied. Light nutty aroma.

Thanks to my SS for this bottled growler - very nice effort - Thanks! Dark brown pour with a moderate mocha head. Sweet aromas, with dark chocolate, lightly roasted malt, ash, creosote, some dark fruits and coffee. Lightly silky feel that thins out with some of the acidity in this one. Dark chocolate, french roast coffee, and some almond bark in the flavors. Finish is rather quick, but the linger is long with roasted malts. Some hints of dms throw thing off.

Draft at the taproom in Ashville. Black beer with a giant tan head. Lacing down the whole glass. Aroma is roast and chocolate. Flavor is a smooth taste of roast coffee and a bitter bite of chocolate in the hoppy finish. Great beer!

This jet black beer seems unbalanced to me. There is just something not right about it. I think there is something up with the grain bill.

Pours a dark black with a tan head and good lacing. Has a very roasty aroma. Great toasty flavors with a fairly dry finish. A very enjoyable stout.

The aroma is decently roasty, but style wise probably not as noticeably as the porter. Some faint tobacco. Coffee and dry bittersweet cocoa. The body is full black and holds a creamy, but smallish, mocha head. The first sip is very satisfyingly roast/burnt/dark chocolate bitter with just a hint of sweetness. Cooke dark fruit, dry tobacco and a roasty, dry bitter finish.
