Pours gorgeous dark as night; big dark chocolate aroma; man this beer rocks. Absolutely massive flavor, roasty mocha, enough vinous fruit to make things really interesting, great chocolate without any of hershey’s syrup trap. I can see why the Foothills Impy is such a hot commodity. Impressed! pepsican (885), The Student Ghetto, Iowa, USA

Lightly dry malt flavor of chocolate and roasted malts. Light carbonation and highly drinkable. Creamy, smooth, and full bodied. Light nutty aroma. JPDIPSO (4908), Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 30, 2008 Thanks to my SS for this bottled growler - very nice effort - Thanks! Dark brown pour with a moderate mocha head. Sweet aromas, with dark chocolate, lightly roasted malt, ash, creosote, some dark fruits and coffee. Lightly silky feel that thins out with some of the acidity in this one. Dark chocolate, french roast coffee, and some almond bark in the flavors. Finish is rather quick, but the linger is long with roasted malts. Some hints of dms throw thing off. Collint (458), Sylva, North Carolina, USA

Lacing down the whole glass. Aroma is roast and chocolate. Flavor is a smooth taste of roast coffee and a bitter bite of chocolate in the hoppy finish. Great beer! lightning9191 (82), Christiansburg, Virginia, USA

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jul 18, 2008 The aroma is decently roasty, but style wise probably not as noticeably as the porter. Some faint tobacco. Coffee and dry bittersweet cocoa. The body is full black and holds a creamy, but smallish, mocha head. The first sip is very satisfyingly roast/burnt/dark chocolate bitter with just a hint of sweetness. Cooke dark fruit, dry tobacco and a roasty, dry bitter finish.
