On tap at Barley’s Asheville. Black in color, not much head. Hearty helping of roast, a little bit of alcohol on the aroma. Medium-bodied. Nice even intro of malt and bitter roast and cocoa with a pleasant and full roasted finish. Very sessionable and robust at the same time.

Sampled at the Foothill brewery. Poured a dark almost black color with a tan head. Has a thin body, with roasted malt flavor. Finished about the same. Nothing special here.

Pours pitch black, with a thick, foamy light brown head. Pretty big, up in your face roast aroma. Some hop presence in there as well to balance it out some which was nice. Dark malts and mild chocolate were noticeable too. The flavor was big on the roast as well, with some chocolate, cream, and nutty characters. Nice full bodied stout, alot of flavor. Another solid offering from these guys. They are getting more and more respect from me.

Pint @ brewpub. 8/6/07. Good aroma, bittersweet. roasted grains, toasty nutty. Brownish black color, nice head & lace. Bitter flavor, like aroma with chocolate, coffee, molasses. Medium body, creamy mouthfeel, bitter dry finish, Very nice stout, Easy drinkin’ I wouldn’t of guess 7%. Liked how the finish tapered off.

Summertimes Brewfest. Pours a very dark black brew with a thin brown head. The aroma is very roasty, coffee, chocolate, caramel. Tastes roastedd, chocolate, coffee. Also great. ALong with their other stuff.

Draught at Liberty in Columbia, SC. Pours dark black with a small tan head. Aroma is strong coffee, dark fruit, and soy sauce. Flavor is much the same, plenty of great dark notes to be found all over this beer. The mouthfeel is not as thick as an impy, but it’s pretty close. It’s all the better for balancing on the fence between regular stout and imperial stout.
