Hearty helping of roast, a little bit of alcohol on the aroma. Medium-bodied. Nice even intro of malt and bitter roast and cocoa with a pleasant and full roasted finish. Very sessionable and robust at the same time. elmatador00 (518), j-action-ville, North Carolina, USA

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Sep 23, 2007 Pours pitch black, with a thick, foamy light brown head. Pretty big, up in your face roast aroma. Some hop presence in there as well to balance it out some which was nice. Dark malts and mild chocolate were noticeable too. The flavor was big on the roast as well, with some chocolate, cream, and nutty characters. Nice full bodied stout, alot of flavor. Another solid offering from these guys. They are getting more and more respect from me. OldGrowth (1434), North Carolina, USA

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jul 16, 2007 Draught at Liberty in Columbia, SC. Pours dark black with a small tan head. Aroma is strong coffee, dark fruit, and soy sauce. Flavor is much the same, plenty of great dark notes to be found all over this beer. The mouthfeel is not as thick as an impy, but it’s pretty close. It’s all the better for balancing on the fence between regular stout and imperial stout.
