GvStraaten (5), Baltimore, Maryland, USA does not count Sep 20, 2007 It’s a beautiful beer with a nice flavor and aroma. It’s a tad sticky...but an overall success. GOtta love those German peacocks in the packaging. That girl one is kind of sexy. urbnhautebourg (934), Annapolis, Maryland, USA Oct 7, 2003 Updated: Nov 8, 2004Update: This was actually the best Oktoberfest I tasted this year. Moderate richness--the brewers refrained from making this one of those awful stewed fruit monsters like Flying Dog’s festbeer. Very nice and not unlike Victory’s Festbier. Old: 2003 (2.6) Should I bump up Dinkel Acker Dar or simply take out my frustrations on this Maerzen? I think the latter. Tasted side by side with Dinkel Acker Dark, this reminds me that Maerzen is not simply colored Helles. Oktoberfest beers should have richness and strength. This, though it seemed well brewed, had neither. Nothing at all remarkable. Nevertheless, I’ll stand by Fordham, my local brewer. Beerdedone (1626), Croydon, Pennsylvania, USA Nov 1, 2006 On draft at Newtown Brewfest with Stegosaurus and The Mad Indian. Pours amber with a white head. Aroma of sweet malts and floral hops. The flavor is sweet malts and finishes bitter.Good beer. Holdwine (843), Beertimore, Maryland, USA Sep 18, 2005 2005 on tap. A little too sticky sweet, although the malting isn’t that bad. Strong caramel with a carbonated bite. Very light hoopy finish. guzzler67 (1162), Hanover, Maryland, USA Oct 17, 2004 Light amber hue with a small head. Aroma was non-descript; essentially some fruitiness but nothing distinctive. This years (04) version comes through with more of a sweet, caramel malt taste; hops are there but not overpowering. Carbonation is average in the fruity, medium-bodied flavor. Finishes sweet.
