Heavy Vienna style to my thinking. Very clear toffee coloured with a thin coffee coloured head. Nose is simple with sweetish sugary malts. These malts kick in again on the palate; dead simple and a bit too sweet for my tastes but I guess it works ok. Not a great beer to match my pizza at lunch and surely overated at 88%.

Bottle. Heavy aromas of dark bread, cereal and molasses for the malts, light herbs for the hops, with an odd leathery yeast smell, and cinnamon and cooked root vegetables in the background. Head is small, bubbly, white with good lacing and is mostly lasting. Color is clear reddish/brown. Flavor starts lightly sweet and acidic, and finishes lightly acidic and bitter. Palate is medium, watery and a little oily, and has a lively carbonation. A good doppelbock, the odd smell took a few points off though.

A very good beer for its style. I really like the colour and the overall flavour profile. Caramel like, Chocolate, burnt and tobacco are the main notes. A general sweetness which does not disturb.

Comments: Not bad for a very commercial brewer. Not the most polished example, but effectively balanced, well textured and good looking.

Drank on tap at Forst Bierstuben Central in Bozen. Far different from all the other times i’ve drank it. Very fresh aroma of chocolate, sweet grainy and coffee spreading from a beautiful brown appearance, with a not so lasting beige foam. Well balanced in mouth.

Bottle@Home. When you take a few sips it looks promising but after half a glass you find it to be rather bad. The flavors are going up and down to a mettalic bitter finish. Chocolate and very malty aroma. Dark brown color, beige head, good lace. Sweet, bitter, chocolate, malty, harsh metallic bitter finish. Quite dense.

Nice beer picked up In halifax. reall intresting doppelbock nice brown color, nice sized head that goes away quick. nose is sweet caremel and maybe some molassis, flavour is similar with a decent bitterness on the finish. nice beer
